This dash is a "push-in" dash panel. There was a lot of trouble with the connections on the panel. They get corroded and don't make good contact. Remove the instrument cluster, spray the connections with electro-motive spray. Maybe even some very fine steel wool (with the battery disconnected!) and get the terminals clean. Re-assemble. It should work GREAT. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: transmission, and speedometer, check engine light problem

I found the information,as I searched a little further on the Internet,it turns out to be a fairly common problem which is, the speed sensors with the outlet being the most common one to fail but the inlet can also, a relatively cheap fix.

SOURCE: Honda 2004 transmission gear box

Hi sounds like a problem I was starting to have in my 04 Accord. It would shutter terribly between gears. We had changed trans. fluid every 60k miles but evidently that wasn't good enough. I was shopping for a trans when I talked to my mechanic and he recommended new fluid. We drained and refilled trans twice and now drain and refill trans pan every other oil change ( about 20k w/ synthetic). After the fluid change trans. is doin great. Don't run and go pay for a trans flush at a local shop. I worked at a very highend dealership as a service writer and trust me it is a rip. In your honda you have drain plug just drain and refill, then run, repeat. It will do the same thing just takes a little longer. I have 190k on "The 04" now and it just won't quit! Honda's Rock!

My 2002 Intrigue's speedometer does not work. However, the odometer and tach still do. The service engine light is on as well. Could it be the sensor and if so where is it located?

If it's the service "vehicle" soon instead of the service "engine" soon, it could be the vehicle speed sensor which is in the transmission case where the differential lives, right over where the right axle goes into the transmission.

Speedometer not working service engine soon light on

I would guess there is a relation between the inop speedo and the service soon light being on. Push OFF and WARM on the climate control panel and hold down together for 5 sec to read codes.engine and transmission require speed input to set engine/trans parameters accordingly. The car car is safely performing in a back up mode until repairs are made

Service Engine Soon Light on a 2004 Trail Blazer

VERY SIMPLE
1. Turn key to the "on" position but don't start car
2. Pull the PCM BAT and PCM IGN fuses in engine compartment
3. Wait approximately 5 minutes
4. Turn ignition off
5. Replace fuses
6. Start the car and the make sure the light has went off.
then check to see if your gas cap is on right. If this light comes on again then it is time for the dealer. If you can't find them fuses then just disconnect the battery for five minutes reconnect the battery and when you start the truck the light should be out. just let it idle for 2 minutes with no heater or radio on. and you set. I hope this helps you.
