Most likely resistor before you assume its bad make sure it has come loose my friends silverado fan speed five stopped workink and an actuator syarted clicking i checked the plug in to the resistor slightly loose i disconected it and plugged it right back in everything is back to normal so he ended up returning the resistor and it hasnt had another issue since last week. If that doesnt fix take it out and and take it apart look for burnt parts on wiring circuts etc. If so replace it.

Very common issue with those! Most likely will need a blower motor resistor at the least and possible resistor pig tail. They get hot and melt the ends causing a bad connection. If not going to dealer be sure to take bad resistor with you because there are two different styles that look similar until you go to bolt it back up. If replacing the pig tail replace one wire at a time so you do not cross wire it.

Check or have checked the blower motor resistor. These resistors will cause this problem. I would go this route first as these are relatively inexpensive and usually the problem.

I installed new resistor and connector and speed 5 won't work on blower on 2005 gmc sierra

High speed on the blower fan does not work thru the resistor.
There is a seperate circuit that sould feed 12 volts directly to the motor. If you have access to a schematic it would help.
The connectors for the high speed, burn out a lot. If you cant find I could look it up.

Only high speed works on fan motor

This condition is caused by a defective blower motor speed control resistor. The resistor is located right next to the blower motor with the connector end sticking out of the ducting for the AC/Heater system. Very easy to replace and the part is cheap as well.

05 GMC sierra heater blower stopped working. It used to work on setting 1-4 but lost 4 a couple weeks ago and now none of them work. Is this a bad blower , resistor or both?

The resistor is most likely bad but should still work on the highest setting.Would check pigtails to the resistor and to the blower motor for burnt or discolored wiring. You can try tapping the blower motor and wiggling the wiring harness too see if it will work on the highest setting. It is possible that the blower motor is bad as well typically when you lose the speed selection it is the resistor but you should always have high speed.

2004 GMC Sierra 4dr truck. the fan does not work

The switch or the wire harness at the blower motor has gone bad. The highest setting 5 has no resistor, so the blower runs on high but the high current flow ends up burning up the switch's contact on that setting or the resistor wire harness at the blower motor has gone bad. Common would be the switch it self, if the switch is good. Then it's going to be the wire leads at the speed resistor by the blower motor under the glove box by the passenger leg compartment. Keep me posted, be glad to help you get your Sierra running 100% again soon.
