94' Honda Accord 5 door, Driver side caliper piston remains stuck in closed position constantly applying constant brake pressure to driver side front wheel brake piston.

Replaced 2 new front Rotors, Calipers, brake pads, & cleaned left and right Wheel speed sensors and both left and right shaft toothed cog wheels. still no luck. The Brake piston only releases when it is bled but returns to the same stuck position again when brake is applied a few times, and then it must be bled to release the piston pressure again.

Check and test for damaged or collapsed flex brake hose [ usually collapse internally not allowing fluid to return ]

Testimonial: "Thanks John, don't know why I didn't think of that.... guess its always the simplest things we tend to pass up. You are the second person with the same answer, However; I feel if that is not the problem then I may have to deal with either the Pump Module or an ABS Sensor. Thanks so much for your input."

update: I replaced the Brake Hose today and still have the same problem... seems like it might be either the Modulator, or perhaps just ONE modulator fluid line. Is it possible to have just ONE bad modulator fluid line?/ or is it definitely the Modulator itself?

If the caliper is ok it sounds like the flexiable hose is restrcted by the metal crimps on the hose corroded and crushing the reinforced rubber hose restricting the fluid returning back in to the system. change the hose

Testimonial: "Thanks Paul, Why didn't I think of that? I'm going to check it out but still fear that maybe the pump module or one of the ABS Sensors is bad. Great input Thanks Much."

Update: Today I replaced the Brake Hose and I still have the same problem. Brake piston will still not retract. So I guess my next two options are: One of the Modulator Brake Fluid Linens or the Modulator itself.

SOURCE: Pistons in both front calipers stay out, both calipers replaced

You may have a leak in the booster or master cylinder. You can put a pressure tester on the system to test for leaks. It does sound like you have an air leak.
You can try to bleed the master cylinder, then slave cylinder, then brake lines.

SOURCE: Install new brake pads and rotors all 4 wheels.

Are you losing any Brake Fluid? Is it visible anywhere at the four wheels? Is it visible anywhere else?
The Master Cylinder may be defective. When you bled the Brakes did you maintain proper Brake Fluid Level in the Master Cylinder? If you didn't: and air entered into the Master Cylinder there maybe air within in the system in the Master Cylinder. You can bleed the Master Cylinder by removing the brake lines, adding more fluid, pumping the brakes, bleeding the air out of the system.
Are you losing Brake Fluid and can't find a noticeable leak? Then there is a good posibility that the rear seal in the Master Cylinder is leaking and the Fluid is going into the Brake Booster - which is the large wheel shaped drum located on the fire wall. In this case both the Brake Booster and the Master Cylinder will have to be removed and replaced. The Booster contains seals that Brake Fluid is very caustic to and will ruin these seals- causing future failures.
If no Brake Fluid is lost, no leak found: Check the Brake Booster Vacuum Advance. This should be connected to the outside of the Booster, attached to a hose, with the hose going to the engine. Check to see if this is working properly. Replace if needed.

SOURCE: stuck calipers

Brake lines are not releasing fluid back to master cylinder. Open bleeder and see if wheel will turn. If it does replace brake line to caliper

Ford bronco troubleshooting

Dear Shawna;
Yes.
I have had this problem with several vehicles.
The first cure was new rubber hoses to the calipers, as the old ones, (only 5 years old from the factory) were collapsing inside, and not allowing the brake fluid to return toward the master cylinder.
The second was sticking pistons inside the caliper.
Your Bronco is old enough to warrant a really close inspection of the left front caliper, sounds like the piston is sticking, from rust, dirt, corrosion, or over-extension.
(Over-extension is where the pads wore down so far the piston extended too far out or the caliper bore to retract when the brakes were released.)
God bless your efforts.

Hello their, you have answered your question 100%, if you can rebuild the calipers it would save you money instead of getting new/rebuilt ones, and just bleed them normally, then apply to fixya to become one of us :)

I have an 89 bmw 325is. I have replaced the 2 fr ont calipers and master cylinder. When I take it out for a test drive I noticed that the front brakes lock up on me and I have to relieve pressure on...

It is either the caliper piston will not retract after brake pressure is relieved or the flexible rubber brake line itself has collapsed internally, causing constant pressure to be applied to the front brakes.

Should the center spindle nut and 2 torgued phillip head screws be removed to replace front brake rotor on 1999 honda accord lx

will try to help. 1st remove the wheel, then remove the 2 caliper bolts that hold the brake caliper on. after removal of brake caliper, [it should just pull off after the 2 bolts are removed] replace the brake pads[be sure to apply anti squeal lube to the outer side of the pads..not the pad itself, the one not contacting the brake rotor] install the pads, the you will need a C clamp to push the brake caliper pistons back into the caliper. i've used this installation easily. use the old pad ,place it against the caliper piston, then apply the C clamp and push the caliper piston back into the brake caliper, then the brake caliper will slide back over the new pads easily, no need to bleed the brakes if you use this solution. replace the brake caliper bolts, then go to next side and repeat the process. after the replacement of the front brake pads, pump the brakes with engine running!!! it's really a simple process. be sure the brake pads are facing the brake rotors with the [pads] facicing the rotors. no metal facing metal. easy! if you have added brake fluid recently, do not be alarmed if you see fluid coming out of the brake master cylinder, when you use the C clamp to collaspe the brake caliper back into the recessed position. [as always when you have to add brake fluid to the brake master cylinder,it only means your brakes are wearing naturally. if you have a vibration in front wheels or steering wheel when braking, you have a brake rotor or both front brake rotors that need replacement with your brakes also. hope this helps and as always, please get a second opinion if you have doubt. an expert will be happy to help. thank you for choosing fixya.com

How do depress the rear brake caliper piston of a 94 honda accord 4 door

The rear caliper contains the mechanism for the park barke assembly so retracting the piston is a little different than the front. You need to turn the piston as you press it in. There are special tools to help with this but you can usually do it with regular hand tools. Note the two small deprssions in the piston. Place the tips of your needle nose pliers in those depressions and press the piston into the caliper while turning. Most will needed to be twisted to the right but some twist to the left. Go slow and make sure you are not "unscrewing" the piston from the park brake mechanism. If the piston looks like it is unscrewing, turn it in the other direction.

1990 Honda accord brake problums

Your problem look like if there is still some air in the calipper cylinder.
I suggest you loosen the brake hose at the calliper and completely retract the piston.
Then thighen back the hose and perform a normal bleeding procedure of the front brake lines.

2006 honda accord rear brake pads

You can screw the rear caliper pistons back in, by using a needle nose pliers and turning the cross or x notch in a clockwise direction. both caliper pistons will turn the same way. The reason they "screw" out, is for positive locking pressure when the parking brake is engaged.
