SOURCE: 1998 olds Aurora i have an oil leak, is it common

There are common places, you'll just have to look around to see where the leak is:
Around the oil filter and the housing
Around the oil pan and the pan gasket
The oil seal behind the damper pulley
Valve cover gaskets
These are the most common places, leaks can spring up anywhere.

SOURCE: how much and what kind

Depending on climate location, if in really cold weather you may want to use 5w30, but usually 10w30 is the best for year round use. All oils are pretty much the the same, but I use Castrol in my cars and I use an additive called Lucas oil treatment which really helps the parts stay lubricated.

Why low pressure oil

I have had this same issue. I my case the oil pressure sending units continued to fail. After replacing them 3 times I gave up and just let it go. You need to be sure it really IS a sending unit issue and not really low oil pressure however.

Oil leak from the hose an 1995 oldsmobile aurora

Mostly likely it's coming from the oil cooler lines from the motor to the radiator. My friend's Aurora has the same leak, we replaced the oil pressure sending unit, which is close by the lines, but the lines, where the compressed part of the fitting was leaking there. The oil cooler lines will have to be replaced.

When my 1996 old aurora get up to temp about 220 the dash warns me my oil pressure is low. AT stops it can drop to 5 to 7 sometimes lower.

see if your oil pressure sending unit is leaking it should be located close to the oil filter. pull the plug off the sending unit to see if oil drips out. if so replace it.

It should be on the left side of the engine(front of car) wiring runs under and around oil pan maybe wires are torn or pulled out of connector.oil sending unit is usually right in the same area of oil filter.
