Most modern tanks have such a device in the filler tube for obvious reasons
take the hose off the outlet side of the fuel pump
connect a long hose from there to a container/s and turn on the ignition
if the tank is full you will need at least 3 X 20 litre gerry cans to hold the fuel
Testimonial: "Thanks. And the fuel pump is located near the tank? If so, hard for me to get to. Any th thoughts there?"
SOURCE: gas tank
Bypass/jumper the fuel pump relay, disconnect the supply line to the injectors and turn the key on, it will pump the tank dry in about 10 minutes if it's full. You can't siphon a newer car due to the anti-siphon design of the filler neck.
SOURCE: how to extract gasoline from gas tank
The syphon method is by far the easiest and you should try a smaller stiff hose to get the job done. About the only other way is to find the fuel line that comes out of the fuel pump, disconnect it, attach a hose to it, which could be difficult and turn on the ignition and let the pump, do the work.

SOURCE: 2007 Saturn vue won't accept gas.
There is an anti-syphon screen in the filler neck of the gas tank. They do not have very large openings and the slightest debris will act like it is blocked. EIther have the screen replaced or completely removed, or don't put gas nozzle completely in the hole
