Most modern tanks have such a device in the filler tube for obvious reasons
take the hose off the outlet side of the fuel pump
connect a long hose from there to a container/s and turn on the ignition
if the tank is full you will need at least 3 X 20 litre gerry cans to hold the fuel

Testimonial: "Thanks. And the fuel pump is located near the tank? If so, hard for me to get to. Any th thoughts there?"

the drain pipe can be fitted at any fitting or hose joint up to the fuel manifold
any place that is easy to access that the pump can pump out off

SOURCE: gas tank

Bypass/jumper the fuel pump relay, disconnect the supply line to the injectors and turn the key on, it will pump the tank dry in about 10 minutes if it's full. You can't siphon a newer car due to the anti-siphon design of the filler neck.

SOURCE: how to extract gasoline from gas tank

The syphon method is by far the easiest and you should try a smaller stiff hose to get the job done. About the only other way is to find the fuel line that comes out of the fuel pump, disconnect it, attach a hose to it, which could be difficult and turn on the ignition and let the pump, do the work.

SOURCE: 2007 Saturn vue won't accept gas.

There is an anti-syphon screen in the filler neck of the gas tank. They do not have very large openings and the slightest debris will act like it is blocked. EIther have the screen replaced or completely removed, or don't put gas nozzle completely in the hole

I need to drain the gas tank to fill with premium gas & drive for 50 miles to reset the emissions computer.

there is an anti siphon device in the tube
There is no need to empty the gas tank at all ( unless diesel has been added wrongly) because the computer in the ECM continually checks the tune up of the engine (60 times a second)
just add the new fuel and the computer will keep adjusting the tuning of the motor accordingly up to and past when all there is is new fuel in the tank
emissions are continually being monitored and the engine settings are continually being reset to stay with in the preset parameters of the program in the ECM

How to siphon gas in 2001 ford windstar

Due to gas thefts becoming more prevalent when gas was either hard to come by or expensive or both, many manufacturers installed anti-siphon blocks in the gas tank filler necks of many vehicles. These can sometimes be gotten around by judicious fishing of the inlet tubing down through the gas filler neck, but it can be very hard on some vehicles. Try measuring the distance from the bottom of the gas tank to the top of the filler neck with a yardstick. You can hold the bottom of the yardstick approximately at the bottom of the tank as you can see it while kneeling down beside the back tire and note the distance to the filler tube. Mark off that distance from the end of the inlet tubing for the siphon and put a heavy mark on the tubing at that point. If you can\'t get the inlet tubing down the filler neck to this mark, you probably aren\'t going to be able to successfully siphon gas. You can try twisting the tubing as it goes down the filler neck and pushing it up and down to see if you can snake by the anti-siphon block. It helps if the siphon inlet tubing is small and stiff, but again, no guarantees.

Can u easily siphon gas from a 98 montana? We cant get the rear bolt off thermostat housing to change the thermostat and just filled the tank

Cars and trucks manufactured since the late 70's have anti-siphoning screens at the bottom of the fill tube to the tank. So, sorry to say, no you can't siphon this new gas. I can truly commiserate with you as it's happened more than once. I've just filled my tank and the vehicle bites the big one. The only way to get to that gas is to drop the tank.

Can I siphon gas from a 1995 ford thunderbird the v 8

Most cars have an anti siphoning device in the filler tube that resembles a screen so you can't put a tube down to be able to siphon gas out of the tank.

Vehicle will only accept fuel at a very low pump rate. It is a 2002 xg350 Hyundai.

there are several things that can cause this. There is a vent hose or the main hose to the tank from the filler that could be kinked, collapsed orr plugged. There may be a emissions valve on the filler neck that is bad too, they are not easy to deal with because the tank should be emptied and the vehicle raised and remove the gas tank. Difficult to do and dangerous due to fire and explosion hazard.

Okay, I have two young children who have kindly filled the fuel tank up for me with water. Prior to them doing this it has approx. 1/4 of a tank. Is there anyway that this can be drained from the tanks. ...

Hi, here's the plan. First check for a drain plug on the tank. If that's a no-go, disconnect the fuel supply line to the cold start injector as shown in the picture below. Use a funnel to guide the fuel/water into a catch pan. Turn on the key to run the fuel pump and watch as the catch pan fills. Turn off the key to empty the catch somewhere safe, and redo until the tank is empty. After the tank is empty, add a couple of fresh gallons of fuel and pump it through to clear the residue. Then reattach the line to the cold start injector and refill the tank. Power up the pump again and give it time to fill the line before starting. Then give the kids a stern warning.

You can,t there is a ball inside that will let fuel in Its there so if the vehicle rolls over the ball moves beck to stop the fuel spilling out of the tank You would need to disconnect the fuel inlet hose at the tank to siphon fuel from the tank
