there is a mechanical solenoid inside shifter handle, need to remove chrome cover and disengauched from the shifter to moved to a safe place

all vehicles nowdays have a switch under brake pedal. if it goes bad or is out of adjustment it wont come out of park when putting foot on brake. do the stop lights work !! also COMPLAINTS ABOUT DODGE CHARGER'S CONSOLE SHIFTER. 2007 Dodge Charger, theres a piece in shifter that breaks and locks shifter up. call dealership to be sure. good-day !

General public says it cost about $400 to have it done, and it's not a permanent fix. There's a plastic piece that is prone to breaking.

Hopefully its still under warranty! its either the shifter / cable needs adjusting or gear lock button is seized.
Shifter release is on the brake pedal. I recommend taking it to a repair shop UNLESS its under warranty and watch what they do cause this will happen again.

make sure there is no bolts holding it on if that ok then if you are not reusing the rotor hit with a hammer to break it loose. if you plan on reusing the rotor spay it with some penetrating oil then lightly tap on the hub to break it loose. good luck
