try to run the water pump without hoses, and add water in the 'in' side, if is powers out the other side, then it's fine. how is your water/coolant mix?
SOURCE: radiator cap
There is not a radiator cap on mini coopers it is a closed radiator. The coolant expansion tank is in the back of the engine compartment twards the middle. The fill for the coolant is just on the drivers side of the engine block between the engine and the battery box/ engine air filter.

That is alot of work. It would **** to have a mechanic paid to do this but unless you are pretty good with a wrench and have a hoist and such then it wouldnt be worth your time. Normally what is required for something like this is supporting the vehicle on jack stands and removing both front tires. Once front tires are removed you would then have to remove the axles which includes the brakes/rotors and what not. Once the axles where removed you would unbolt the transmission and remove it. Now the problem is if the engine is supported by a mount that bolts to the transmission you are going to have to support the motor with a hoist or jack until the transmission is installed. All in all it isnt really alot of work if you know what you are getting yourself into and have all the stuff you are going to need ie jacks/hoists/plenty of tools and a good weekend. Also remember all the small stuff that might need to be unbolted to clear the transmission

There is no machine for this, however a VERY skilled auto electric shop might be able to help. They really have to have a Gift with car wiring to fix your problem,it can be FIXED,find the right shop in your area.I will try and think this through to help you, this is what I used to do,It's not a book problem it is experience that will fix your car. I do have a question? How does your car run without the AC on?

Remove and raise upper hose at thermostat end and remove lower rad hose.
Fill rad with a hose and watch for flow from bottom rad hose and/ or bottom rad hose connecton.......water should fall though rad easily.
Honda rads are cheap.....any restriction....replace rad.
Remove thermostat....fill thermostat housing with hose and watch for water flow at bottom rad hose.
Flush good.
Remove heater hoses.......flush back and forth until a good flow is present "With heater control set to hot" if no or poor flow....replace heater core.
Stop leak can plug everything.
Also.......not likely causing over heating....but ....at your mileage,if you do not know if the timing belt has been changed.....CHANGE IT NOW!
Water pump is optional at this mileage.
