Timing is set by the Crank Position Sensor and Computer.

The Hall Effect Sensor in the distributor,is for injector timing. DO NOT MOVE THE DISTRIBUTOR

1992 dodge dakota does if have a chain/belt timing

If you have the 2.5 you have a belt. Gates number for that belt is T153. If you have a V-6 or V-8 It has a timing chain.
