SOURCE: crankshaft position sensor located where

The sensor is right by the passanger side drive shaft, where it goes into the transmission. Its right above the shaft. Single black connector with 3 wires coming out of it. Good luck changing it. Those are pretty tough to replace. I replace them from the top.

SOURCE: need to find location of egr sensor

A 2000 Camry with a 4cyl does not have a EGR sensor. The ECU uses the readings from the MAP and AF sensors to determine if the EGR is working.
You have a EGR VSV (vacuum switching valve) and a EGR modulator but no position sensor. Only the V6 has this.

SOURCE: 1995 Toyota Camry 4 cylinder runs hot

Hi,

Firstly, ensure you have the required 'mixture' of coolant/water (must have required coolant).

Second, I would recommend you re-test all the cooling system sensors again (make sure they're within specifications), in case a new one is faulty.

Third, ensure the new thermostat was of the correct temp setting (they all differ), so that it opens at the required time. Most cooling systems operate within 90 - 100degC.

Fourth, make sure the radiator (and associated hoses) aren't blocked.

If your temp gauge is reading higher than normal, but NOT in the danger zone...then this can be considered normal (especially if you've replaced with new components) and nothing to be concerned about.

However, if the temp gauge IS in the danger zone....then this suggests the coolant is not flowing through the cooling system properly.

If all above components test ok, then it's possible your water pump may not be pumping enough volume.

Cheers,

SOURCE: Replace crankshaft position sensor

Remove the left front wheel....(drivers side). Remove all accessory belts. Remove the crankshaft shaft pulley.......remove the plastic lower timing belt cover.....and there it is! It is mounted with one bolt.
The wiring runs down the right side of the timing cover while looking at it from the drivers side of the car.

Testimonial: "I ended up having my mechanic do the work. He did say he had to move all those parts to get to the sensor. "

2003 Toyota Camry 166000 mi., 2.4 liter 4 cylinder. ONLY WHEN CAR IS HOT, idle drops off, engine stalls, must step on accelerator to keep from stalling. Otherwise, idles normally. New spark plugs,...

Some "check engine" light in your dashboard? If YES, need to scanned the PCM (computer) to know exactly what fault code is stored there. If NO, the crankshaft position sensor may fail, causing engine stalling or a failure to start. Replacement or the failed sensor will commonly correct this problem.

Also, keep in mind that on the 2.7L V6 and 2.4L 4 cylinder, a defective Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) switching valve may cause an intermittent rough or unstable idle engine.

Stalling synthoms... you can have a plugged exhaust, plugged fuel filter, bad airflow meter, problem with the ignition system, incorrect timing belt/chain setting, and failing fuel pump....I'm sure there's more but that should get you thinking.

Just make sure the timing belt is on properlyy, lining up the cam and crank in proper position to each other. The engine willstart when fully assembled because the electrical has not be altered. If it has a crank position sensor , be sure to put it back on after cleaning it and the connector.
