If the starter runs but does not engage you have either a band solenoid , your replacement starter is not exactly the same as the original or is not installed fully or your connections to the solenoid are not good so it does not get sufficient power.Does the motor turn over ? If the motor turns over and it still will not start check all your connections and your battery . If the starter is drawing power but your system is compromised you may not have enough left for a good spark.

SOURCE: Pickup wont start

well you can short over the starter and see if it starts. honestly i would remove the starter and take it to your local autozone. they will check it for free. also check the start solenoid. they have a tendency to cause the same effect.

SOURCE: dodge dynasty wont star battery is good lites work

I would suspect selinod, either that or weak starter. You would have to crawl under the car and look toward the back side of the motor. If memory serves me right there are two bolts that hold the starter on.

pull starter back off but do not disconnect cables, then try key again, if starter spins use a large standard screwdriver to turn the flywheel through the starter mounting hole,if it doesnt move u have motor trouble

SOURCE: DODGE STRATUS 2004 WONT START

Is it turning over?
If not, check for loose connections, and or blown fuses.

If it is turning over, please provide a more concise description of the problem.

Thanks, and Good Luck!

SOURCE: 2002 dodge caravan wont start wont turn over

My 2003 dodge caravan would not start after driving about 1/2 hour. I stopped for coffee and when got back in to start it started I switched gears and it stalled. I tried to start again switched gears then it started but only for 2 sec. No clicking, no cranking sound just would not start but battery functions were great. Spent 2 days with a mechanic who could not resolve so sent to Dodge. After a day of putting wires back and checking out the problem they said it was the computer. Said that it was bad and could be replaced at no charge due to malfunction. Yes, it worked fine afterwards no more problems. They also said that some of the computers are found to be defective like this one so I hope this helps you in the right choice to have the dealer check it out if you are unable to get a computer reading and there is no obvious short in the system. Free sounded very good but as you know there is no such thing as really free as they got me for other things $350 worth. ouch!

My 2005 dodge ram 1500 wont start and the etc light and the check engine light both stay on

Check all the electrical connections . grounds and to starter. One of them are bad or the new starter crapped out on you. Remember just because it is new doesn't mean it is good. I have got new items that were junk out of the box.

I have 2005 I changed the starter and battery good but it still won't start

First does it crank, if it does then check to see if the fuel injectors are getting fuel.....could be a fuel pump...

second....if there is nothing when you turn the key and the battery is good and the starter was replaced...it could be a bad ground.....thats the ground coming off your battery and goes to your chassis of the car.........let me know how you make out.

2004 dodge durango runs good but every know and than when i try to start it, it wont start but if i put jumper cables to it starts right up and car is good to go a few days later same problem any ideas...

Either something is draining the starting voltage from your battery.. A short or grounded circuit. Or your starter or starter solenoid is starting to go. Starters need a certain range of voltage to engage and start. As they get older they wear and require more voltage to kick in and start.. Have your battery and starter tested under load that way you can tell the condition of the starter

2001 dodge stratus 2.7L wont start. Starter, battery, fuel pump is good. Help!

Do the basic tests. If it cranks good but won't start, have a helper crank it while you check for spark at the plugs. If spark everywhere use a gage and check proper fuel pressure and fuel injector pulse.
Any applicable trouble codes?

1999 dodge durango wont start

may work may not...on older cars when the starter went bad and the car wouldn't start you could tap the starter with a long screwdriver or hammer lightly and the solenoid would engage and start the car but you need to get it home or to shop cause it wouldn't work again..if you try this and the starter engages then the starter needs to be replaced if you haven't already tried..if the lights are flashing when you try to start the vehicle then o would say its prob a malfunctioning alarm system..try to diengage it by pulling fuse for alarm..don't know if you can though..check the starter...good luck
