Someone added an aftermarket alternator regulator. I need to return to original wiring. Not sure of factory wiring configuration

this can be caused by a shorted cell in the battery, has the battery tested? and clean the battery cable's, corrosion can also cause this condition.

I had the same problem on a 94 dodge with the cummins. It seems the crank sensor that reads from a notch on the harmonic balancer was the problem Without this sensor reading that the engine is running the alternator wont charge. Possibly the same problem with yours
SOURCE: dodge neon 2002. My alternator is not charging,
wires run direct to alternator from battery ,test big lead for a permanant 12v supplyon the back of the alternator if you have one then the problem is either the brushes worn out or the commutator worn through.or the regulator either way its a recon unit as parts are not sold seperate anymore as not many dealer mechanics know how to repair anything and the spares shops make more profit on a unit than parts so they do not sell spares to stop people like me and you from doing our own repairs
