FYI
I have a 1995 GMC 1500 with 5.7 truck that the ABS Light comes on and then the tranny starts jumping gears and speedo goes crazy- Changed ignition switch and that did not help.

It is probaly the sppedo pick up, mine did the exact same thing and an $80 part fixed it. the speedo pick up ties into the abs trans and sppedo.

ABS light is on 95 GMC sierra k2500 4x4 light was on before i did a brake job on all 4 wheels how do you turn it off

Doing a brake job has nothing to do with the ABS system .There are three or four wheel speed sensors , depending on the type system . A EBCM - electronic brake control module controls the system .An if the light is on there is DTC - diagnostic trouble code stored in the EBCM ! A diagnostic tool that can read these codes has to be hooked up the vehicle to see what code is stored an then diagnosed . If you are unfamiliar with this your best bet would be to take your vehicle to a qualified repair shop . There is no just turning it off .

ABS warning light stayed on even after I replaced the front brake pads.

No such thing as resetting codes, to fix anything

The codes are used to diagnose the system with the problem

ABS problem with GMC 2002 Sierra

its a low speed abs activation the problem is in the front sensors they need to be cleaned or replaced they [or one] probably has some corrosion on the sensor --[the 99 chevy tahoes had a limited recall over this issue and the fix was to remove and clean the abs sensor or if to corroded replace ] this problem doesnt set off an abs code or trouble light also sometimes the abs will activate by itself at under 4 mph without even touching brake

There was a TSB on this issue with your Sierra, a faulty or dirty ABS sensor is the cause of this problem. The fix is simple, just clean the ABS sensor at the front hub with brake parts cleaner and inspect the wire leads. At worst you may have to replace the sensor it self. Good luck

you may have a ABS problem. I would drive it and attemp to skid the tires an dsee if the pump activates. sometimes this will unstick any valves inside the ABS unit. you may need to have a qualified repair shop check deeper. the ABS will have a code, and a scanner will be needed to check further.

Both brake and abs lights are on. I've replaced both front wheel hubs, and checked all fuses.cant seem to locate the problem

you have an ABS code in the ABS computer. You most likely damaged an ABS sensor. even after myouo fix this you will need to get the code cleared
NOTE: autozone wont be able to access the ABS computer.

2000 GMC Sierra 1500 ABS and Brake lights

Have you by chance checked your fluid? If not, you may want to do that, it could show that you need brakes if it is low. If that doesn't do it, the mechanic may be right about a sensor, but just the wrong one. Hope that helps.
