I think you could use this manual method instead.. My nephew used it to repair my car and it's
totally perfectly fine now. Here's the website he bought it from. www.reliable-store.com
SOURCE: replace the rear view mirror
Gently tap the base of the mount upwards. I just replaced mine and I thought there was a cover over the winshield mount, turns out it is just pushed on to the wedge that is mounted to the windshield. Good Luck, webree
SOURCE: electrochromic rear view mirror does not dim when turned on
These mirrors are all made by one company, no matter the car maker, they all have the same problems, they are very unreliable, if u have power to the mirror which I am 100% sure u do the mirror will need to be replaced, they are not repairable they are about $250-300
SOURCE: rear view mirror replacement
not 100% sure, but seem to remember that theres an alen key fastener, which is under a cap/flap at the bottom of the mirror fastening close to the glass.
Hope that helps

SOURCE: How do you remove the rear view mirror from mount.
Is the mount made of metal or plastic? In either case, it will be attached to a "base" that is glued to the windshield. A metal mount should have a tiny little screw in it that pins it against the base. Loosen this crew and the mount should slide upwards (towards roof) off the base. A plastic mount should have a tab that you can pull on and slide it off upwards....
Testimonial: "Exactly what we thought was the correct way. But they found that the previous owner had also glued the mirror stem to the mount. "
SOURCE: how do i get the rear view mirror back on?
I am assuming you are talking about the interior rear view mirror and not the side rear view mirror. Most auto parts stores sell an adhesive glue to fix the interior rear view mirror. Most of these mirrors have two parts to them. One part is the bracket that glues to the windshield and the other part is the rear view mirror assembly. Before gluing the bracket to the glass check and see how the mirror assembly attaches to the bracket. There will often be a screw that fixed the two together.
