Might have a weak stator. It is putting out voltage, just not enough to cover the usage of the lights.

SOURCE: part time light on when in 2 wheel drive off when in 4 wheel driv

I have a 2002 Jeep Liberty I had the same, there's a switch underneath the vehicle for the cable near the 4 wheel drive shaft, I had a transmission shop replace mine and that took care of the problem, I think the total cost was about $120.00 but that included labor.

SOURCE: how do i replace front

First, you have to take the rotor off. To get the rotor off you need a special tool (a hub wrench - a socket with four little prongs). Take off the clip on the the hub and then the washers (3). Use the hub wrench to remove the 2 rings. Pull off the rotor. Take the outer bearing out of the rotor. To get the inner bearing out you have to take the seal off. You can usually pry the seal off with a screwdriver. Once the seal is off, you can pull the inner ring out. Reverse procedure to put back on. Remember to put bearing grease on the hub and new bearings.

SOURCE: four wheel drive is not engaging when you turn the swith

it is usually the sensor or the control button itself on the dash if you have an owners manual check in there for a fuse or a relay if no manual look under the dash on drivers side for the fuse box and under the hood for the relay box

SOURCE: four wheel drive locked in but front tires wont

If the Tires wont spin then it isnt locked in.
If it really is engaged like you think it is and they dont turn then something is broken in the differential. If that was the case then it should be makeing lots of noise.
Now it is very very common for the electro-mechanical device that engages the the 4wheel drive at the differential to go bad. If you look at the front differential you cant miss the 4 wheel drive actuator. It has a couple wires that come out and plug into the wiring harness.
Usually if this part fails I understand the 4wheel drive indicator lights wont come on? I could be wrong on that. My sub is 3 years older and that was the case with it.

2006 Honda foreman 500 when you put it in four wheel drive it feels like the front brake is being applied. Feels normal in two wheel drive

4WD low range makes the vehicle go into slow mode, more grunt when in tough situations. Drives like truck/tractor with 10 gears. Have you tried it in 4WD terrain?

How do I access the front drive side turn signal to replace the bulb on a 2003 Discovery?

You need to access phillips screw next to top right side of driv headlight and slide turn signal assembly forward. It helps if you remove black plastic access plate above headlamp.

The battery, which is new drains and does not charge during each use of the vehicle.

you need to check the charging system with a multimeter ,start the vehicle and turn on the high beams and the heater fan to high, and put four ways on,now check what voltage reading you have at the battery post,it should not even be lower than 12.5 volts.

Does the 4x4 "actually" work because this is a signal that the system has a problem. Its like a check engine light that comes on or flashes when there is a problem with the engine or emission system.

Headlights won't turn on. Daytime running lights stay on.

See if you can hold on your highbeams, as a temporary solution, until you can check and see if the fuse in the switch to turn your lights on is burnt out. I had the same problem with my car and apparently it was a defective part that GM had produced, but obviously they won't replace it free of charge. I would suggest going to an auto-wreckers and picking up a new switch there... the part usually costs around $400 in Canada.
