If you confirm the side marker lights,tail lights,fog lights and/or dash illumination are inop,and fuse number 39 is open,the wire harness is chafed/damaged at either the left or right front side marker lights....Removed both front side marker light and repair the harness wil fix your problem.....Let me know if you find any damaged wire harness

Hi, you need to test if the power is coming to the plug for rear brake light. If the power is not there that is your first problems. Also may have earth wire problem.

I would start by checking all the fuses, then check the headlight switch,test it for power as you did the tail light, then check the wiring coming out of the cab down the frame to the rear of bed check for a short but if all fuses are good then will not be a short, may be a bad switch and the most important is the bulbs, make sure they are good.

you cant take the cover off, remove the light and the bulb goes in from behind, usually 1 or 2 screws

Did you check bulb in trailer.. Some have multiple elements for brakes and signals.. One can work while the other dosent.. .

1.Remove front & Rear turn signal Bulbs.
2.Replace Fuse.
3.Signal on.
4.Fix rear Signal Bulb.
5.Fix Front Signal Bulb.
7.If your Fuse blown.
8.Defect is There.

thode screws hold the lens or the light assembly? Allow for the whole tail light to come out and the bulb plug will be accessible. I never had the privilage. But how the lens fits will tell you. If the lens goes overthe edges, the whole unit comes out, lens is sealed. Good luck

Running lights in front sides of vehicle short out in time. I simply disconnected the plugs found inside the front wheel wells and packed them with grease for time being. When the weather improves I will find the chaffed insulation and repair. Replaced the 15amp fuse found under the hood and shwing, back on the road.

You have a short. With these Xterras it is most likely from one of the front side markers rubbing the bumper support. Is the front bumper pushed in or damaged in anyway if so check the wiring to these lamps. Hope this helps.
