SOURCE: attach hood prop rod 2001 Ford Focus

First you will need to get a hood prop bushing from pobably your Ford dealer or you can get one from a salvage yard. You may also need a hood rod attchment. In order to attach your hood rod on. In order to allow your hood to close without the rod interfering with the closing of your hood. This can either be obtained at your dealer or salvage yard. Then you will need a 4or 5 foot poll in order to prop your hood.So that you can place the bushing in and also hood attachment bushing. Both bushings snap right in. You will need to take your hood rod and place it in the hole of the bushing the hood rod should have a short bend at the bottom of it.Like an L or 7 the L shape should seat it self into the bushing. In order to erect the rod to hold the hood up.Or in order to attach it on the hood attachment. Before closing the hood. The hood rod bushing for extending your hood rod.In order to hold your hood up.Goes in the side of the inside frame of the body to the rear of the passenger side of the car again it just snaps in. And the hood rod attachment goes towards the front of the passenger side and it also snaps in.It's located horizontal of the headlight. The hood rod bushing is a 2 sided little round shaped plastic bushing just big enough for your hood rod to fit through. And it is usually white. And your hood rod attachmewnt is usually black.

SOURCE: 2001 Jetta tdi hood release broken how do i get it open

on the left side of the drivers side their is a panel with the hood release Pull off the cover of the hood release and you will see a cable connected to the hood release. take some pliers and give it a good pull.
if you dont hear a click, have someone pull the hood up while you pull on the hood release cable. next their will be little space to take off the grille for easier acces. take off the grille carefully by prying it off carefully on each side. push the grill up and pull it towards you going up then down.
Now all you have to do is stick a flathead screwdriver or philips. and on the bottom of the hood release on the hood stick the screwdriver under the release and push the screw driver down while pushing the hood up.

SOURCE: engine hood wont open hood pull handle pulls out but wont release

Try pulling on the hood release, while someone else lifts the hood. If this doesn't work. You can access the underside of the hood release by taking the front grille out. If you look closely you'll see the retainer screws that can be removed from the front. Once the grille is out or loosened enougt to get your hand in behind, you can release the hood latch from the underside with a screwdriver and then repair the hood latch after you've opened it.

On 2012 Nissan Maxima. How do you connect the hood release cable back to the lever inside the car please?

It comes with the lever and housing attached if it is an OEM part.

https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/find/nissan-maxima-hood-release-cable

If yours doesn't, keep disconnected at the hood latch end and remove the whole handle assembly. Grab the cable with locking grips and fix it to the handle. Put the housing and lever back, then connect at the hood latch. Videos here

Long at the base screw next to the handle.

Hood release handle broke off

-There are two way to fix or replace.
1. Replace with new one.
2. If the wire broke between the handle to the latch, you can connect
with another wire that has snap both ends to hold the old one in place.

Handle inside will not open the hood....

I'm going to tell you how( thinking the handle inside the car broke). This handle is made of plastic(replacement handle is a dealer item, pay to much for it), and the cable behind it usually breaks at the plastic connector. you need a pair of vise grips. attach the vice grips to the cable, and pull. It will release the hood. Now if the cable itself broke going to the hood, you will have to remove the grill( is held in place by screws). Remove the grill, and you will be able to pull the release pin on the hood latch, releasing the hood. hope this helps, and please rate, helpful or not

Broken hood release handle

Behind the hood release handle you should find a nub of wire. Use some heavy pliers, like channel locks, and pull on it. The other way is to go to the front of the car and look where the hood latch is. If you can see the cable and can grab it with some channel locks, than grab and twist a couple times, you should be able to get it that way. Then replace the cable and handle.

Does any one know how to open the hood on a 1987 300e if the latch doesn't release

There is a release cable that is attatched to the red releas handle on the drivers under dash panel. You can grab that cable with needle nose pliers to release the hood to the first detent if the handle or cable is broken. There is a secondary release mechanism(called a hood tongue) which routes through the grille where the rectangular slot is once the hood is popped up with the release handle.you can grab the rest of the broken hood tongue with needle nose pliers and pull it out to completly release the hood from the saftey catch. If it is completely broken you can take a long screw driver and push the saftey catch( i beleive to the right) and the hood should be able to open all the way up. Both the hood tongue and the cable(securing portion at release handle) are common failures and break over the years.if it is at the release handle you are having a problem-get a #2 phillips screw driver and remove the release handle to gain access to the loose cable. I hope I have been helpful
