Trying to reset theft system on a 98 Pontiac sunfire dut the light don't go out after 10 min. what do i do

Try starting it with the shifter in neutral. You might have a bad
Neutral safety switch.

I have a 97 Malibu and when the theft system light kept coming on and would only start after letting the car sit for 10 minutes we ended up replacing the complete ignition where the key goes in. Then it was fine. It wasn't cheap either. Sorry, good luck.

you can try to turn the key to the ignition for 10 min or the theft light stops blinking,

try turning the ignition on try to start then without shutting key off wait 10 mins then shut key off then back on but do not try starting leave on for ten mins then back off turn key back on to run but do not try starting it wait ten mins then if it reset it should crank over and start if not repeat all steps again

try disconnecting the battery for30 min befor you reset with the key on.
