It sounds like you have an issue with something in your air/fuel mixture electronics. This could be something in your throttle body, mas air flow sensor, or even an oxygen sensor. When your car is idling the air/fuel mixture is acceptable for the engine to run. When you press on the gas either too much gas is dumped in the engine or too little. If you look at your exhaust pipe you may notice a heavy built up of black soot. This would indicate that your vehicle is running extremely rich (too much gas), if your exhaust is very white then your vehicle is running lean (too little gas). The smell of the exhaust can also tell you something about how the engine is running. If it smells sweet it is running rich. I hope this helps and please don't forget to rate me.

Have you tried to pull any DTC codes. Here is a link for you so you can pull some codes, but you may have a bad Ignition Control Module (ICM) it's around $40.00 at Auto Zone and they can give you the step by step instruction to replacing it with common tools. The ICM is common to go bad after a few years due to time and corrosion. It's location is under the rotor in the distributor, as it heats up if fails or any changes in the engine speed. Have the idle bypass valve checked, also called idle air control valve.
If that valve is stuck in the closed position, it's not allowing the fuel to bypass the throttle plate to keep it idling, resulting in stalling, but will keep engine running if the pedal is pushed down.
