You are right about removing the motor mount. You have to support the engine with a jack. Use a piece of plywood between the jack and the oil pan. Remove the motor mount and you should be able to lift the engine up about 2-3 inches with the jack. Remove the serpentine belt and then you should have enough room to remove the alternator.

Look for a Bad Ground wire connection that Links the Tail Light and Trunk Light.

SOURCE: No dashboard lights or tail lights but I got Blinkers and brakes
most like u have a blown fuse most of the time in cars they connect the tail light and instrament lights to 1 fuse
SOURCE: not working tail lights, not working dash board
Check your fuses its probably just a blown fuse ,the tail lights and dash lights are linked through the same fuse.
