1996 rodeo no start

those vehicles are common for starters did two today alone when it wont start try to tap it with a hammer it on the back side of the engine under the intake if it starts replace starter

Wrong belt. Check with parts store make sure you got the right belt. If that's not the case then one of your pulleys are worn out and causing it to jump time

Pull out a spark plug put it on the end of the wire and see if you have spark when someone cranks the engine over. If you have spark then try spraying a little starter fluid in the throttle body while cranking it over, does it try to start? If it does fuel pump may be bad. If it doesn't, possible timing belt, timing chain, problem. In other words if you have fuel and spark, then it should start, unless something is wrong with compression. Timing off will cause low compression. Another thing if while cranking engine over the starting fluid is pushed back at you by the engine, it is almost a sure sign of the timing being off. In the engine compartment there is a relay box that houses a bunch of relays they are all the same take the relay from the horn spot and switch it with the starter one ane and see iff it turns over that way if ti does then the relay is bad and U need a new one if it doesnt try jumping the starter manually (this is not easy to do as there is little room)! If the starter needs to be replaced you have to undo the exhaust on the driver side manifold to get it out , in order to do that ypu must heat up the manifold studs with a torch to turn the nuts off . This is the reason for the flex joint in the exhaust y pipe as it moves enough to drop the starter.

CHECK ALL THE IGNITION ELECTRICAL WIRES ON THE IGNITION SYSTEM.CHECK MAKE SURE FUSES ARE IN TIGHT.IF YOU BATTERY IS OLD.I SEEN A BAD BATTERY KILL THE ENGINE.IT HAS A PLATE SHORTING ON INSIDE.IT WILL KILL THE ENGINE.LIKE YOU TURN OFF YOUR SELF.

Check fuses under the hood also check computer module.

Try tracing the fuel pump power wire from the tank back toward the engine. I've had a few Isuzus with corroded wires.
