Large emisions leak in my 2004 alero.. what do i look for 1st?

The code reader has been showing this for a year. then the check engine light comes on and goes off for a while. would you have a list of things i should check? i have checked fuses and all good, i always check them cuz it's the easiest and cheapest to replace.

Do both fans work for sure? You may want to replace the fans runs anywhere from 140$ up to 250$ depending on the brand.

"po455 large leak" means that you are not maintaining positive pressure in your fuel system. Have a mechanic do a "smoke test" on the fuel system. Could be as simple as a loose gas cap...

It will not go off by itself,you will need to reset it by connecting to a diagnostic tool.Once cleared if there is any other problem then it will trigger the check engine light again.Hope this helps..

Wheel speed sensor that is inside the wheel bearing hub or possibly the wiring harness that connects to the sensor has gone bad. If there are no issues with the harness, then the wheel hub will need to be replaced.

Check the fuller nosily they sometimes rot and get little pin holes or the vapor line is rusty, this will cause them to leak vapor and trip your engine light giving you an emissions code, especially in the Dodge caravans VERY COMMON!

1st: if u put fuel and the engine works, its normal.. so u have to turn off the engine and then put fuel
2nd: see fuel cover if it make vaccum
3rd: put the reservoir down and chip all the vaccum valves and all the tips

There are a couple of things that come to mind with your vehicle. 1st, large gross leak, could be a cracked or broken hose, an open vacuum valve. It could also be the LDP ( leak detection pump) has failed. This system, to be repaired properly, will need to have smoke pushed into the system to locate the leak. Some lights are set with a timer in the computer.Try dissconnecting the battery for about 10 mins or so. This may reset the computer. If the light comes on after you reconnect the battery take the car to a large auto parts store like Advance or Pep boys and most times they will use there code reader to tell you what your cars computer is saying.You might call them first and ask but it is usually a free service.

Failed Emision test

po442 is evap emission control system leak (small) 1 of the lines for emissions is leaking. po455 is-- emission control system leak (large). turn off light with code scanner after it is fixed.

Took my car to Autozone, because service engine soon light came on. Two codes came up p0445 and p0442 I changed the gas cap and now only p0442 is showing. It didn't pass emisions. What can I check?

if it truly set code for "loose fuel cap" or po455 large leak, then tightening the cap and driving a couple days should reset on its own. if not then get it checked for free at autozone and report back with code # and can help from there. they'll ck for free but are not allowed to reset.
