Loose wire to clutch coil, bad relay or bad control. I would start at the clutch and make sure the wire isnt loose or showing through worn insulation. See what a relay costs and may replace that if cheap enough.
The problem is in the power plug. I removed the bad unit and replaced it with one from Walmart ($6). The unit looks good but internallay it is open on the ground lead.
