SOURCE: ford freestar 2004 the TRAC OFF message comes

I had the same problem and apparently fixed it by mistake. I replaced the cruise control deactivation switch under the master cylinder, hoping the cruise would be fixed. Some how with that the "trac off" light went out and gave me the ability to turn it on/off from the button again. The part was $30 from the local dealer and easy to replace. Before you run out to replace the switch check the connections on the old one. It plugs in upside down which may accumulate water from puddles and things causing connection issues ( a known problem ).

2004 ford freestar front blower motor will not come on. Windshield wipers only work occasionally

Pull the control switch out of the dash and check the switch connector for burnt connectors terminals, it will be be discolored, if you do find the switch burnt replace the switch and buy a repair connector from Ford. If the connector is ok then replace the blower motor resistor near the blower motor, it can cause this problem as well, in fact do that first, the blower resistor module is only about $18.00 (Source Rockauto.com). the wipers are controlled through the BCM (body control module), it can be tested with a scan tool. Below is a picture of the blower resistor module.

Service brake master cylinder on 2004 Ford Freestar SE.I am replacing the rear brakes and will need to bleed them But I am unable to locate/get to the master cylinder..Help

The master cylinder is on the drivers side, under the windshield wiper cowling. I remove the cowling. Remove the wiper arms, Remove the six screws in the cowling, pull it off. Remove the ten MM nuts by the windshield, remove the 13 MM bolts on the fire wall. Unplug the wiper motor. Pull out and up at the same time. This would be a good time to replace the valve cover gaskets also. They always leak on the back side, because of the heat.

How to change the coil in a 2004 ford freestar 3.9L

The ignition coil on a 2004 Ford Freestar is a bit of work to replace. Here are some steps:
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable;

2. Remove windshield wiper arms (you might need a cheap puller to get the arms off the spindles), marking the windshield with tape to help you reposition the wiper arms;
3. Remove the trim screws from the upper cowling and remove the cowling;
4. Remove a bunch of screws from the lower cowling, taking care not to remove the screws holding the wiper motor onto the lower cowling;
5. Remove the lower cowling with the wiper motor attached;
6. There is a large black piece on the passenger side of the car that covers up a big part of the engine. There are three screws that if you loosen you'll be able to remove this part;
7. Now you can get to the ignition coil, which is on the back of the engine; remove the wires (marking where the go);
8. There are only three screws that hold the coil on. Two on your right and one on the left (as you look into the engine compartment). Remove the three screws and the coil comes right out.
Good luck!

2004 Ford Freestar without power to the internal fusebox for both front and rear wipers

Hello sixnuef: My name is Roger and I will help. There are 4 fuses for the wiper system two for the front and two for the rear. In the fuse box under the dash to the left of the steering column.there are two fuses F2.3 and F2.7. Under the hood in the bussed electrical center there are two more fuses. Fuse F1.54 and F1.55. Check all fuses as if one is bad then that part wont work.If the fuses are good then you will need to check for power to the multi function switch. If you have power to the wiper switch but none out. The problem most likely is the switch. Should you need further help please just ask. Pleas rate the answer. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Roger

2004 ford freestar 4.2L engine...high pitched

this sounds odd but mine did this when i replaced the wipers. it seems the design of the wiper frame was making a whistle at higher speeds. the freestar wipers are exposed on the window cowl and not hidden so they endure the winds at high speed. it is worth a shot.

2004 freestar can't turn the radio up or down it

I would question your children " if you have any" if they have put anything in the cd slot, I work at a dealership and we find a lot of problems with the van radios are very nice children like to play and put small change into the cd slot, which shorts out the internal components of the radio, if you remove the radio, dash piece just pops off then 4 screws hold radio in, and shake it you should not hear anything rattling around in it.

Cruise and radio controls don't work on the steering wheel

I wouldn't f(uck around with this. I'd take it straight to an auto electrician.

How knows, it could like kick into cruise when you least expect it and really screw you up and cause a rear ender.
