2000 Pontiac Montana van, when I turn the key to the on position, all I get is a service engine soon light, nothing else happens. When I turn the key off, there is a hissing sound and all my gauge needles jump for a second and quit. No engine noises, no starting sounds, nor does it start. But when I turn the key to the accessory position, my radio works.

Most likely the connection at the starter has fallen loose. It's happened to me before. BTW, if it isn't connected, the starter solenoid won't click. If it is connected, the solenoid will click and engage the starter. If it is clicking and no starter turns, the solenoid is faulty or the cable connection is corroded or loose.

Does the security light come on when you turn the key to run ,Does it go off in a few min. The proper way to reset the anti-theft system would be to turn the key to the on position for 10 min. if the light goes out in that time ,turn the key off for a few seconds . Then try an start the vehicle . If light comes back on an won't start there is a hard fault . You mite at that point wan't to do a theft system by- pass . Also have your battery checked and or charging system . A low battery , a malfuctioning charging system may cause these type problems .

check battery connections all the way to there ends may be bad ground or alternator not charging when you get it running go to local auto parts store have them check voltage output or charging power

good year are tire people trying to be mechanics
take it to an accredited service shop that has experience on your make of vehicle
have the new service center run the fault codes which is what goodyear should have done first up

My parents had the same problem with the dash lights on there Montana. After 7 trips into the shop we determined ourselves that there is a wiring harness that runs under the carpet on the drivers side in about the location where most people rest their left foot when driving. What was happening is the wires had worn through the insulated cover and was grounding out on the bare floor under the carpet. We were able to tape the wires and wrap them with hockey stick tape to prevent it from happening again. It is worth looking into.

Have a local shop read the codes and have the problem repaired. Just erasing the code will only delay its return.

check starter wiring for loose nuts, bad connetion. n what not. clean up terminals if needed n see if it turns over if not. check for power coming frm the yellow wire, or the smaller one. with the key held in start position, in no power you will need a starter solinoid. if you do have power go grab a starter n put it in,

van wont start, batterys chrged, turn key nothing, does that mean its the feul pump?

before u replace any parts u need to have the electronic engine control tested for trouble codes, this is the 1st thing that any shop does to know where to start the repair and diagnosis. Most likely u have a defective crankshaft position sensor, but have the test run..

Turn key to the on position and press the gas pedal to the floor 3 times.then turn key back off then start it if it blinks at you 3 to 4 times real fast its reset..
