171 is fuel in lean condition, and 303 is misfire on cylinder three. The first few things I would check is, fuel injector on cylinder three, the coil, and the spark plug.

First thing I'd try is some "heet" or similar additive in tank to remove moisture, then refill with gas from a busy station & drive it for a while and see what happens.

SOURCE: 1998 honda accord obd code P0171 and P0170.

Hi,welcome to fix ya.
p0171 is for a lean fuel condition .A variety of things can cause this code the most common one is a bad o2 sensor but a plugged injector, fuel filter or dirty egr system can cause this as well.

If the converter is failed (i.e. plugged) it can cause drive-ability problems (i.e. the engine can't get the exhaust out like it normally can). FYI, http://p0420.com

Fix the known P0420 code first, then if the rough idle, etc continues, continue diagnosing. IMHO, don't worry about the MAF, etc. until you fix the "known" problems.

Since a P0171 can cause a P0420, you'd want to diagnose and fix the cause of the P0171 first. Here's an article on what to check when you have a P0171 https://ricksfreeautorepairadvice.com/fix-p0171-system-too-lean-trouble-code/

1988 Accord with automatic tranny...never has had any "get up and go" then D4 drive went out..also compression is 125 on all 4 cylinders..adding oil to each cylinder brings them to 150..I drive I in D3...

run fault codes and check for TCM failure as it appears that the OD section is not working Although the compression appears low a constant 125 psi is an indication of a good motor and remember that the amount of oil used will increase the compression pressures if the rings are good . It would be of concern if a cylinder with oil did not respond with a rise in compression indicating weak rings are scored bore. Have an oil pressure test done on the gear box to ensure that every thing inside is as it should be and check the band/clutch adjustment as the rpm at 60 mph should be around 3200rpm

I have a honda accord and I went to Auto Zone and they did a diagnostic check results were P0420 and the following; aa1-A/F ratio concern aa2- air leak near HO2S Heated oxygen sensor aa3- ignition...

More than likely the catalytic converter has failed. the computer looks at the downstream O2 sensor to determine if the cat is working. If it sees the downstream O2 starting to switch back and forth like the upstream O2 or read consistently higher than it should than it will flag the P0420 code.

Engine check light read p0171 and p0420, noticed a leak of engine oil on cylinder 2 area of head gasket when checking the sparks plug, is that the cause?

P0171 code is described as: lean condition bank 1, oxy sensor 1. If your vehicle is a 4 cylinder, which I believe it is.. you have got a lean air/fuel mixture being found by the ecm(computer). This can be caused by several things. The first of which is a possible vacuum leak at or near the intake manifold. This can also be caused by a MAF(Mass Air Flow) sensor problem or even by something as simple as a clogged fuel filter. This lean condition could also be the cause of the P0420 :described as a catalyst efficiency problem. It would be best to have the vehicle taken to a reputable repair facility that is capable of engine performance diagnostics and have them run tests for these codes. The gasket you mention is most likely a valve cover gasket not the head gasket and would not cause these codes. Although you should have this leak fixed before it becomes a problem.

Hope this helps..
