The oil pressure sending unit is located behind the oil filter, Threaded into an aluminunm housing. It has wiring that plugs into the sending unit. The oil filter has to be removed and you will need a deep well socket and a 6 inch extension. Change the oil and the sending unit together.

Hi there;

Your looking foer the oil pressure sensor on the 2004 8.1L.
You will find it located directly behind the EGR valve threaded into the block just to the drivers side of the center bolt for the transmission to block connection.

Turn the ignition to run position with out starting engine, same with key or push button, push accelerator pedal to the floor three times with in 15 seconds. don't have to stomp it. Remember, do not have engine running. Hope this helps you.

Turned on 2009 altima was flashing oil pressure then oil fillter flashing warning had oil and filter changed 3 days ago ck oil it was fine turned off car what may be the problrm

sometimes the service technician fails to remove the old oil filter gasket. This causes a leak at the oil filter. This would cause a leak which would lead to low oil pressure and loss of oil. You would have to remove the oil filter and check for an extra gasket. Or perhaps the oil filter was never tightened. If you find one then just remove it and re-install oil filter. You will, however, leak a couple cups of oil so have a drip pan ready. You may have damaged your engine if you ran with no/low oil pressure for any length of time.

I have a 94 Land Rover Disco. Two weeks ago the check oil light come on, I checked the oil and it was full, I then checked all the other fluid levels, and they were fine. I then changed the oil, yet the...

either your pressure is low causing the light to come on , and dangerous to your engine , or the oil pressure sending unit is dead. It is just a small pressure switch that screws into the side of the engine block and reads the oil pressure. If the pressure is low , or the sensor is dead , the light comes on. Oil pressure sending units die a lot more often then oil pumps , and they are not expensive to buy , or hard to install. The hardest part of the job is actually locating on your engine. Its location should be easy to find out online.

Oil pressure sending unit

I just replaced the oil pressure sending unit on my 2000 Durango and it is located just above the oil filter. You need a deep-well socket to get the old one out and to put the new one in. It is something that is very easy to replace so if you have a deep-well socket you can do it yourself and save yourself lots of money. Once you get it threaded in you just connect the wire to the end and you should be good to go. Be careful not to break the clip that holds the unit in cause then it will wiggle itself out of place and make the check gauges lite come on again and make you think that the part is bad. Not to mention you will think that you have no oil pressure.
