Re: What does it mean when the check engine icon lights...
The ECM is reporting a fault that need urgent attention in either the engine or transmission
could be low oil level, low coolant, over heating transmission
run the fault codes to find the fault and fix it before it becomes really expensive

Thats your check engine light. Your owner's manual will tell you what all those little lights mean. Take your car to AutoZone. They'll run a free diagnostic and give you a print out of the problem.
The check engine light/service engine soon (yellow light) comes only when the computer control unit (called the PCM) senses a fault in the electronic controls of the engine and/or the emission system u will seldom feel the car engine run any different, there are about 200 possible faults that turn the light on, to know what has developed a problem you must have the system tested, this is called an OBD2 fault code test

Might mean that you are nearly out of oil. Add necessary oil as to vehicle's specifications and the icon should go away. Oil change every 3,000 miles. Also check on the internet in Chrysler Pacifica oil problems just for your info.

If icon re-appears, have you vehicle checked by a certified mechanic as you may have other issues. (sensor, PCV valve, etc.). Hope this solves your problem.
The Amber Engine Icon means the same as a Check Engine Light. Your car's ECM (Computer) has stored a Trouble Code, and you will need a OBD II Reader (On- Board Diagnostic) to get the code so you can diagnose what is wrong with your vehicle. You can go to any AutoZone and they can read the code for you at no charge. You will need to diagnose and fix the problem before the Check Engine Light will turn off.
It could be serious, or it could be very minor. The check-engine light simply means that something has happened and has set a code or codes indicating a failure or problem with something in the engine. Go to AutoZone and ask them to scan the computer (it's free, and a shop will charge an hour's labor to do this). Get the code(s) they give you and post them here as a reply/comment, and we can help you solve the issue.
