Engine lights come on when there is a serious problem in the engine or transmission
you should be checking the sump oil level, coolant level at the radiator cap, transmission oil level and then having the fault codes read
to continue driving without determining the cause for the light could become very expensive

SOURCE: Code P0741 for the diagnostic for Toyota Corolla

This is a torque converter clutch solenoid code internal to the transmission. the computer has detected a fault in the operation of the solenoid. It will need to be diagnosed by a trained technician and may very likely require internal trans repairs.

SOURCE: My yellow check engine light

It could be anything from a loose gas cap to a bad catalytic converter, to a dirty MAF sensor. There are literally hundreds of things it could be.

The best option is to see what code(s) are causing the light to come on. A scan tool will be needed to scan the computer and retrieve the codes. Once you know the codes post them and I'll be happy to help you further if I can.

Lean fuel code for 2006 toyota corolla runs rough in cold weather if you do not let it warm up. If the car is warmed up no problem, but check engine light comes on

Automatic idle control module and the valve it controls on the engine need attention. Sometimes a simple cleaning of the valve is all that's needed.

I have a 2006 Toyota 140i manual transmission. Whilst waiting at the stoplight with the engine at idle ,the revs suddenly race up to 4000rpm & come down on its own. What could be the problem .

Following are the reasons for unstable engine rpm:
- Vacuum leak at intake manifold or Cracked intake manifold.
- Idle speed control valve is not re-learned.
- Weak cylinder compression or intake valve clearance is too low.
- Mass Air Flow sensor dirty or faulty.
- Fuel pump pressure is too low or high.
- Accelerator pedal sensor faulty.

Corolla 140i 2004 won't start after a faulty engine was replaced with that of 160. Sensors of 140i are fitted all the instruments come on except for the amber light on the dash board

on Fixya you wont to learn swaps, really?
why not a real forum with sections on swaps.

Does a 2006 corolla 140i have spark plugs

Hi,
Yes it does. I found a site with pictures detailing how to access the spark plugs for replacement. (recommended every 60,000 miles) Plug gap is 1.1mm. Remember to dissconnect wiring and replace plugs one at a time to eliminate the chance of connecting wrong wire to wrong plug position. Wiring must be connected exactly as removed. Check out his page, requires minimal tools and labor.....Please rate this answer! Thanks, Mike

2006 corolla- check engine light comes on. i replaced the battery (old) and i reconnect it it runs fine for about a minute no warning lights then shuts off check engine light is lit and will crank but not...

Does it run for a full minute or start then shut off within a few seconds?
If the latter, then it sounds like the anti-theft system has kicked in and needs to be reset.

2006 Toyota Corolla ECM Replacement Price?

your best bet is to get a used ecm form a salvage yard it should cost you about 200 dollars that is far cheaper than going to a dealership or a parts store. generally that is what i do when i replace ecms. there are plenty of wrecked vehicles and the ecm is good in them so why pass it up to get a part that cost brand new about 1500 dollars.. goodl luck. please rate this
