That's a good bet, and a good place to start. Try that, and maybe some new spark plugs just for the heck of it (they're inexpensive), and see if you run better afterward.

sounds to me like you could have a plugged catalatic converter .

step one is 22 ft lbs.
step two is 52 ft lbs
step #3 is turn an additional 90 degrees. sart in the middle and work your way out going top tobottom, good luck.

Your Catalytic Converters may be plugged. This has been the case on two Fords I have owned. Either have them replaced, or if you are up to disconnecting the exhaust system and cleaning them out, that works too. Probably not legal in your state though but is a poor man's fix.
