Non working turn signals will not drain the battery because they work when the key is on. You may have a bad battery. If your signal lights come on and do not flash, you have a bad flasher which should be located under the dash area. As for the battery, most parts houses will check the condition of the new battery for free. If you think you have a bad battery, make sure that it has a good charge then disconnect it from the system by disconnection one of the cables. If the battery goes dead overnight then it is self draining.

Don't replace the entire switch, clean any of the relays or take the switch apart. You'll notice at the back of that switch where wires are attached to the blades that they are exposed. My guess is that you'll also notice the tilt steering wheel "release" is bare metal and in very close proximity. Insulate the lever with something (I cut apart a plastic water bottle, melted it in half, then fused the ends with a butane soldering torch) and put everyhting back together). The blades at the back of the switch are arcing across to the tilt lever.

voila

SOURCE: 99 olds aurora pass key problem

There is most likely a problem with the tiny sensor in the ignition lock cylinder, it is not reading the key chip and locks u out, the problem is u can't just replace the lock cylinder u need a dealer only re-programm of the pass key system since the control module will not recognize the new lock code, catch 22 if u ask me. Do u have more than one key for the car? do both do this?

SOURCE: '99 Oldsmobile Aurora Turn Signal problem

In theory, you could "break away" the lighting system from the original and build your own separate harness...but unless you have done this sort of thing before, I don't suggest this as a first electrical project. Otherwise the answer is no. I too cant understand the value of replacing a $5.00 part with expensive electronics that are seemingly far less reliable but as long as people keep buying this stuff, they will keep on making it!!!

I can't find the turn signal flashers on my 99 Olds delta 88 but I did find the emergency flasher. Does it have one or two flashers because my signal light are not working at all HELP PLEASE!!

One flasher only. Check fuses first. Then suspect the flasher as a possibility. I have seen the hazard switch cause the turn signals to malfunction. Try pressing the hazard button in. If they work and flash as hazards you know the bulbs and flasher are ok. If the turn signals then work you have a defective multifunction switch (the hazard/turn signal/etc switch)

I replaced my tail/ turn signals in my 1997 olds Aurora with led lights. The turn signals don't flash but the hazard lights blinks. What's the problem?

I would suspect that it has something to do with the flasher unit. They operate based on current draw heating up a bimetal piece that causes the blinking. Four-ways (hazards) draw more current since there are more filments/LEDs drawing current. By changing from incandescent to LED you have reduced the current draw on the flasher. You may need a different flasher that uses lower current to get turn signals to work. Here is a link that explains it and provides info on how to get the proper flasher.

Where does the turn signal relay plug go on a 99 olds aurora

Normaly it is under the hood on the drivers side under a plastic cover but it should easy to see and remove. If it is not there look at your fuse panel and at the top is another place ther have ther turn signal relays.

Electrical problem with my olds aurora lights flicker and clicking sound

you need to replace the light switch. It is shorting in the mechanism itself not the wiring. I had the same issue. Just another GM engineering blunder
