SOURCE: emergency brake light and battery light coming on while driving

Check your alternator, if you recently had it replaced - make sure that the one you got is correct, if your working on your own.. take a volt meter, set it to dc volts and measure across the battery while the car is running, generally you see around 14 volts, 12+ volts from the battery always and the alternator adds around 2 while running - the weird smell you smell if it smells like a dying rat, it would sound like you will need an alternator - as for your brakes, I'd start by checking the parking brake lever - back to your battery light, make sure all connectors are good on the alternator and also if your alternator does measure 14 volts, turn on all acessories - wipers headlights, radio, blower, rear defogger - this will generate what we call a load, if you then go to your battery you should see the battery voltage not drop below around 13.5 if it does, you probably need an alternator because it's failing to meet the demands of your car. though the lights come on together, it doesn't necessarily mean their in the same circuit - I had the exact same problem with a nissan altima of that year, that came into the shop... all its bulbs were burnt out and it kept having that happen, then other times it was just fine! give that a try, if that doesn't work send me an email at [email protected] I'd be glad to give you advice! 2003 gmc envoy emergency brake light is on and there's a ding ding ding ding nouse. checked brake fluid. How do I stop the Noise or fix it

the noise is telling you the emergency brake is on (or it thinks it is) emergency brakes don't use any fluids as they are totally mechanical on your truck , id first try setting the brake and then releasing it again , if this still doesn't clear the light on then id have your mechanic look at it , might require an adjustment

id be cautious in driving it if theres any possibility that brake is dragging as this will severely overheat your brakes requiring you to replace them early

2003 Escapade by Jayco Class C Motorhome. The display for emergency brake light stays on regardless if the brake is actually on or off. Please advise.

Pull up on the emergency brake pedal with your hand to see if the light will go off. If it will. there is a slack adjustment for the cable going back to the rear brakes. If it won't then the switch is bad or out of adjustment. It's located on the emergency brake pedal

The brake light comes on, on the dash. Brakes work O.K.2003 mercury grand marquis. 112000 miles. the dealer says the pads are good.

Make sure your emergency brake pedal is all the way up, because sometimes if it goes down one notch, that can trigger that light to come on..It wont be enough to drag or slow the sar down, but it will be enough to turn that light on...Also even though your brakes are good..double check your break fluid level...
