I have a 1998 dodge neon, the rear brake/ turn not functioning

I have a 1998 dodge neon, the rear brake/ turn signal lights don't work. I have replaced the rear brake/ turnsignal bulbs. I have also replaced the multifunction switch. This did not fix the problem.

I checked the fuses in the panel on the drivers side. The front turn signals flash rapidly and the front bulbs work. When I turn the flashers on the front lights blink but nothing in the rear. The brake light on the trunk lid does work.

next step is to check power and ground at the sockets you can use a basic 12volt test light connect to battery positive+ check for ground it should be constant. then check power connect test light to good ground battery is best bet the test light should flash on the turn signal contact use something to depress the brake pedal and check power if no power and or ground start tracing wires paying attention to wire color also looking for plugs and loose corroded wires if you do pierce the wire with the test light use small piece of electrical tape or a product called liquid electrical tape to seal pierced wire. also try wiggling wires and bulb in socket making sure to have a good contact.

Brake lights and rear turn signals dont work in my 2008 dodge charger

If both the brake lights and rear turn signals are not functioning in your 2008 Dodge Charger, there are several possible causes to consider. Here are some common issues that could lead to this problem:
1. Blown fuses: Check the fuse box for any blown fuses related to the brake lights and turn signals. A blown fuse can interrupt the circuit and prevent the lights from working. Refer to your vehicle's manual to locate the specific fuse for these functions and replace it if necessary.
2. Faulty bulbs: Inspect the bulbs in the brake lights and turn signals to see if they are burnt out or damaged. If a bulb is not working, it should be replaced. It's possible that multiple bulbs have failed simultaneously, leading to both the brake lights and turn signals not functioning.
3. Wiring issues: Check the wiring connections and harnesses for any signs of damage, loose connections, or corrosion. Faulty wiring can disrupt the electrical flow and prevent the lights from operating. Repair or replace any damaged wiring as needed.
4. Malfunctioning brake light switch: The brake light switch, located near the brake pedal, activates the brake lights when the pedal is pressed. If the switch is faulty or misaligned, it can cause the brake lights to not work. Consider having the brake light switch inspected and replaced if necessary.
5. Faulty turn signal relay: The turn signal relay controls the flashing of the turn signals. If the relay is defective, it can prevent the rear turn signals from operating. Consider replacing the turn signal relay if other potential causes have been ruled out.
If troubleshooting these common issues does not resolve the problem, it is recommended to consult a professional mechanic or authorized Dodge service center for a more accurate diagnosis and repair. They will have the expertise and necessary tools to pinpoint and fix the specific issue with your 2008 Dodge Charger's brake lights and rear turn signals.

1995 dodge ram 2500 third brake light works but the rear brake lights don't work

The circuit goes from the brake light switch thru the turn signal switch and uses the same bulbs as the rear turn signals. I would check for power in and out of that switch next.

95 dodge neon brake lights and rear turn signal will not work,

The fast blinking is usually a bulb burned out. Replace the rear bulbs. If this is not the problem , it may be a ground issue, but it really does sound like a bulb issue. Also inspect the light socket while you are there. Look for any bad corrosion Good luck

My brake light and signal light stopped working on my 1998 dodge neon on drivers side back can you help?

Does any lights on the right side work? It sounds like the ground connection to the assembly is loose.

1998 chevy lumina brake lights intermittent.

This is a classic example of turn signal switch failure. On GM vehicles with a multi-function turn signal switch and combination stop/turn/tail lights (all rear lights are behind red colored lenses except for back-up lights) The brake light power is routed through the turn signal switch. This makes it possible for the right rear light to function as a stop light while the left rear turn signal flashes, and vice-versa. When the contacts fail to remain constant the brake lights, and turn signals can become intermittent. The proof that the brake light switch is functioning correctly is that the high center (cyclops) brake light functions properly. Wiring integrity is verified if you can prove that turn signals operate, but that can still be intermittent with this complaint, BUT if you use your hazard switch to turn on all the signals at once, you can verify wiring integrity. This is because the turn signal, and the brake light use the same circuit, and bulb filament in the rear lighting assembly. If any Hazard lights fail to function, check bulbs first, then retest. If all Hazrd light flash correctly and reliably, bulbs, sockets, and wiring have proven integrity, and the turn signal switch is the remaining component in the system which needs to be tested. Unfortunately, this switch requires disassembly of the steering column for service, testing or replacement. If you have never disassembled, and successfully reassembled a GM tilt steering column, I would reccommend professional assistance.

Brake lights

Check your emergency flasher switch... if it located on the column it could have been "hit" and is inbetween the on and off location, this will cause the turn signals and break lights to malfunction
