My 1995 5 series BMW is stalling immediately after you start it. The problem started by stalling on the highway then began stalling sooner and sooner after you start it, until, now it stalls right away. I was thinking it was the fuel filter. Am I right?
it will cost you the money for the filter first put a new filter on if that don't take care of it have the fuel pump testedit will cost you the money for the filter first put a new filter on if that don't take care of it have the fuel pump tested

Try taking off the distributor cap and check for cracks. It's likely that water got into the distributor cap and both stalled the car out and is preventing it from starting again. Once you are sure the cap is good and all the components are dry (can use compressed air or starting fluid to dispel moisture), put the cap back in place and try starting.
I don't think a 1995 3 series has a timing belt. 100% sure if its the inline 6 cylinder.bmw only used timing belts on two engines. (never replaced one) I would first start with a fuel pressure check to start your diagnosis. From there i'd check to see if you are getting spark and maybe even see if your plugs are fouled. If you have fuel pressure and spark, i'd suspect bad gas.(especially if the problem occured soon after filling up). It may be a good idea to do a compression check if you found no fault with the vehicle.
you did not state the yr of your model. A very typical problem in early e46 engines were in the Vanos. Does the car stutter or stall in cold weather starts? Does it hold it's idle? How is the power? DO you suffer power loss below 3000 rpm? These problems are related to a Vanos problem.....
How do I figure out which it is?
