Low Freon level can cause this. Do not try to refill yourself with a can. You will do more damage to it, because you have not evacuated used Freon and keep topping off externally will overload the system and spring a leak or burn the compressor out. Take it to a Shop where they will Evacuate, create Vaccum, inject Compressor oil and Dye and recharge to the require level with Freon. This way if Freon leaks you can see where the dye is coming out and fix the leak.
If the leak is just the compressor gasket, you have a shop recover the frigerant, make the repair, pull a vacuum & recharge Has to be leak tested first to find all issues
You have a flow restriction, the orifice tube,(inline filter) on the low side(suction)a/c hose.Check close by the dryer and lines for freezing over,if so evacuate, then flush a/c system, install new orifice tube and recharge with new oil and freon.
Sounds like you didn't add oil , when freon goes the oil goes also. When you say locked up , you mean the compressor won't turn when the clutch engages? Either too much freon or the oil was gone from the system when you put freon in it.
you need to chase the lines from the ac generator. there is two spots, an inlet and an outlet. it has a black cap on it and looks like a connection to a compressor.
Yes,it does,134a,and do not forget to get a oil charge also,if it has got low on freon,it has also got low on oil. Please rate if this was at all helpful, thank you.
WHEN COLD THEN GOES AWAY WHEN WARM. THATS NORMAL FORGED PISTONS SLOP WHEN COLD.I HAVE 01 SILVERADO WITH 390,000 RUNS GREAT 21MPG 40TO50 PSI OIL PRESSURE KNOCKS WHEN COLD THEN GOES AWAY. NOT A PROBLEM. IF IT DOSE IT WHEN WARM AND LOW OIL PRESSURE WORN BEARINGS NOT GOOD.
