Witched a coil - changed starter- ran code reader. Code says cadititic converter but it's not that cuz we don't think it has anything to do wit admissions or exhaust. Engine light has been on since we bought it 3months ago but doesn't blink & I was told it waas ok to drive unless it blinks but it's not ok to drive cuz it hardly goes with out bogging down shaking jerking & that popping sound. My husband said it feels like it's shifting down on its own to try & compensate for lack of power. Thanks Andris

Have the fuel pressure checked- this would determine if your fuel pump is working properly. Its really easy if you have a gauge. you might be able to rent one at a part store. or it could need a new fuel filter

I have the same problem. Low rpm a **** or a shudder, high rpm runs fine. Also, at slow acceleration it will cut out then suddenly get its power back. I am looking into it being the being the TPS sensor (Throttle Position Sensor). I think these things can get dead spots. If a check engine light comes on, and you have a misfire, have the code read, chances are you need to change the ignition coil pack. It is just a matter of knowing which cylinder is misfiring.

You need to Replace the Catalytic Converter. That is what you are Smelling. It has Clogged up and will also Cause the Light on the Dash Problem. Please Rate My Response! Thanks!

if the check engine light is blinking, you have a misfire(spark plugs, plug wires or coil pack.inspect the plug wires for damage. The rear bank plug wires (at the fire wall) get alot of heat and the boots will crack, causing a misfire. You might want to have your local shop check it for you,to see if there is an open circuit or shorting in one or more of the plug wires.if it has been awhile since a tune-up,you might want to do that first, and inspect the plug wire boots also and replace them if needed.
