SOURCE: Remove plenum on 1998 Interpid

Assuming it is a 2.7 litre, you can get to the rear bolt of the housing with a quarter drive 8 mm wobble socket. If you have to lift the plenum, there are bolts down the center that will need a 10 mm socket. The center cover (if it still has one) just lifts off.

SOURCE: I need to remove the upper intake manifold plenum.

There are no fasteners inside the plenum, The electrical connection for the injectors is very tight due to a rubber ring gasket the seals the injector assembly to the plenum. Carefully push down on the electrical assmbly while prying up the plenum. You also may have to remove the thermostat and hose. I've done this 3 times on my ladies 96 Yukon.

SOURCE: Van is sputtering after changing

Hello! I strongly suspect a defective Throttle Positioning Sensor (TPS)...It is held in place on the throttle body by two bolts,,,It has a three wire connector with the following wire colors...Gray/Red.....
Gray/White...and Brown/White...Cost is around $40...If you have a volt meter it can be tested...Using two safety pins...Push the point of one into the rear of the in-place connector...On the Gray/White wire...The other into the Brown/White wire...Set meter to read 5 volts...Connect the + probe to the Gray/White...And the - probe to the Brown/White...Start the engine...Meter should read, at idle, less than 1 volt (.85)...SLOWLY increase the throttle...Meter should climb to 4 volts at open throttle...If the voltage skips, jumps, or acts erratic the TPS is defective.............Guru........saailer

SOURCE: Upper Intake Plenum Gasket R+R Torque Sequence

I cannot post a picture here because that is copyrighted material. However, the torque sequence is always "start in the center and work your way out to both ends...pretty simple.

The torque specifications are different depending on which engine your Escape is equipped with.

There are three long ones (10mm hex size) that fit into the air cleaner box. Or do you mean the intake plenum or manifold?

How to replace the egr valve position sensor on a 1994 ford crown vic

the positions of the EGR are close, but they are 2 different units. Look on the back of the upper plenum. You will either see a round aluminum item with an orange/red plunger in it that bolts to the 90 degree elbow, or you will see a plate that bolts to the upper plenum itself. The round aluminum one is the EGR Valve for that model. If it has the plate bolted directly to the plenum, that will be the backpressure transducer.

On both models, you will see a round black plastic cylinder unit. That is the EGR solenoid. There will be 2 tubes on it - one to the upper plenum and fuel regulator, and the other to either the EGR Valve or the backpressure transducer.

Either one you have, they are hard to see. They are on the back, and hard to work on. Mine had the EGR Valve on the elbow, and it was tight to get on/off. I found the easiest way to get it taken apart is to take the elbow off, then the EGR valve, and work on it this way. Made things ALOT easier. Just be careful and try not to break the gasket in between the elbow and the upper plenum.

Egr value location

It's on the drivers side of the engine, on top, right behind the throttle body. Its bolted to the upper plenum, has a four wire connector (I believe), and is round in shape.

Idles bad

Sounds like you may have an upper intake manifold leak. Typically the gasket between the Plenum and the lower intake dries up and gets sucked into the intake a little causing a leak and a high idle issue. The repair requires the removal of the plenum and replacement of the gasket. NOTE: there is a torx bolt hidden between the center plenum runners and can only be seen by looking straight down at the top of the plenum and it may be covered in dirt. If you have to use a bar to pry off the plenum you probably have missed a bolt. Typically it is the one noted above. Best of luck.

High rpm when clutch is in 96 f150 5l

It sounds like the upper section (known as the plenum) of the intake may be leaking at the gasket, this is a common problem on a 5.0L V8. It takes about 1-2 hours to change, and the gasket is cheap, make sure that you throughly clean the gasket surface of the upper and lower intake before putting it back togeather, you will need a special tool to remove the center Torx head retainning bolt, it is a long star/torx bit, It is a T40 The MAC tool number is SC161.
