I noticed the light came on and stayed on for the duration of the ride. I parked and got started the next morning and the light remained off. Any suggestions. The handbook suggest taking it back to the dealer. Also, my radio just went out however the alarm is still working. Help as well.
Speed Sensitive Power Steering
(SSPS) Warning Light
Your vehicle is equipped with Speed Sensitive Power Steering (SSPS).
This is a computer-controlled power steering assist system.
The warning light you are describing will come on briefly when you turn the ignition to ON as a check to show you the bulb is working.
Then it should go out after a few seconds. If the warning light does not come on, have it fixed so it will be able to warn you if there is a problem.
If the warning light stays on, or comes on while you are driving, the SSPS system may not be working.
Your computer will need to be scanned to determine what the problem is with your SSPS system.
