I had purchased a battery, but the installer checked the battery and alternator and said they were OK. After recharging again I noticed a spark when reattaching the battery. I checked to see if every thing was off, and even removed all the fuses, but it still sparked. I am assuming I have a drain somewhere. but can not find anything. Any suggestions
Even if all fuses are out the car has power going through the harnesses through the body as well as the ground wires. I suggest if haven't done so, to check the charging system with the battery and fuses. This suggests that the drain is commonly from a corrosion resistant.

Sounds like either the battery leads are on the wrong way round, or the starter main cable is touching something and shorting to earth. Retrace your steps and check your connection locations.
Either that or its a dead short through the starter. Remove main cable from back of starter and tape up incase of short. then reconnect battery. If ok now then your looking at starter motor.

In my case, the instrument cluster was bad, causing the MFI display and radio to go haywire and putting a contstant drain on the battery. $760 to have the VW shop replace it. No problems related to the battery or alternator have occurred since.
Good luck.

SOURCE: Low voltage, the battery runs low when running the car
What is the voltage you are reading? Is it below 13.2 or so? Also have you checked the current with the engine off to see if something else is working that should not be on. I ran across this twice while working on a truck and car. A relay that was wore out keep trying to close and would drain the battery every couple of months. Sometimes you can hear them clicking or buzzing. Touching them sometimes they are warm or real hot. But that is not a sure sign it is bad. In my Trailblaze they get hot but are ok. Another thougth is the belt on your alt, correctly set to spin it at the right voltage. I have ran across this many times lately with serpatine belts.

A battery drain will not be caused by a bad fuse, its called by something draining power that you can not see. We call this a parasitic dran because just like a parasite drains your energy so does this. Its easy to test for if you have a test light. Loosen the negative battery cable and attach the aligator clip to the clamp next hold the post of the test light to the post of the battery and remove the battery cable being careful not to let it touch the test light. If you have any light thats your drain. On some fords you need to give the computers 30 minutes to power down after shutting the car off. if you want to isolate the system thats causing the drain pull and replace fuses one by one, when the light goes out you have your suspect.
