It is called a grommet and if you talk with the spares section of your local dealer they have diagrams that will show where it is and the part number

SOURCE: I can nit open my trunk on my 1996 jAGUAR XJ6.

ok, if the key won't open this then the lock is jammed and if you don't want to damage anything, I know I wouldn't, I would take it to a mechanic. The jammed may have been what killed your battery if the valet trunk open was not working it may have been shorted out. There is a way to jump vehicles with the battery in the trunk like that but I am not familiar with it and if the buttin doesn't work to release the trunk it would do you no good anyway. most likely you are looking at replacing teh truck locking mechanism.

I recently bought a cherry 93' low mileage XJ6 that was garaged for nine years. After driving it a couple of days, I noticed a black rubber/plastic tube that had come loose from a port hole under the...

There is a black plastice tube that run from the gas filler drain, through the trunk to the bottom. It drains water caught around the fuel filler. Without it your trunk will get wet when it rains. Ther eis a spring with a plastic insert that sticks up through the gas filler boot, and the plastic hose connect to that, although it can get pushed down and out and may have fallen through the trunk as well. There is a spring clamp to hold it to the rubber boot but it could have gotten torn away.

I have a jaguar xj6 1993 and ther is a leak in boot and it is not the seal wher is a nother common leaking point?

The water drain hose from the rubber catchment under the fuel door. It has a stiff plastic tube that can get pulled out from it. Ther should be a drain screen sticking up through the bottom stuck in the end of the tube. If you do not see it when you open the fuel door then it may have been push or pulled down, allowing rainwater to just drain into the trunk.

Where is the gas cap release button inside my 1991 Jaguar?

Hi,

Open your trunk lid and on the left hand side (the side of the fuel filler cap) there should be a label that says manual fuel door open. The switch is white and close to the top right by the fuel filler cap on the inside of the trunk. You may have to pull back the carpeting a little to find it as it might be tucked behind. Give it a pull and the fuel door should open.

Best of luck .

What does it mean:Fuel 44 Fail in the VCM in a jaguar 1991 xj6 sovereign?

Code 44 means that the oxygen sensor is signaling the computer that the fuel mixture is bad - too rich or too lean.

Jaguar xj6 1991 2.9 manual

2 things, first of all teh distributor cap and rotor go bad causing the car to have spark but not fire, secondly you need to make sure that you are getting fuel to the engine bay, if not then it could be the fuel pump.

In regard to the other gentlemans question, starts but cuts out I would start with the same process and open your fuel flap and make sure there is no water around the filler area as it sounds like you could also have water in your gas. (there is a drain next to the filler neck and it gets clogged over time, then when it rains or you wash your wash, that area fills with water and seeps into the tank)

Fuel Stench

have you checked the drain line that is connected to the boot within the filler area,,?,,some gas may be dripping onto/ into the boot,,,then draining into your trunk,,,,there should be a water line running from the boot,,,thru your trunk then out the bottom of the trunk. Some gas may be draining into the water line and if the line is not going out the trunk then it may be drippijng into your trunk. also check to see if you cap is fitting correctly,,
i get a gass smell ever once and awhile,,but mostly no smell at all.
i hope this may help...
