It may do just fine. If it does not, the computer may throw up a code and you may have to make the computer relearn the CPS.

SOURCE: CRANK SHAFT POSITION SENSOR 20002 NISSAN ALTIMA

1st, Nissan had a recall on Crank position sensors for 2002-2006 Altima's. Check with you dealer before you go doing any repairs. You may discover you can get your car repaired at no charge.
NHTSA Campaign ID number :O7V527000
Symptom: Erratic behavior. Stalling and no starts and very difficult to diagnose due to the time frame in which the component actually malfunctions. The warranty should not be limited to the original owner.
I would also need more specifics as to which engine you have so I might assist you in where the location of the sensor is. The Altima had a 4 and a 6 cyl engine offered that year.

SOURCE: jeep wrangelr Crank Position Sensor

wall5552: there were two engines used in 1992 Jeep Wranglers.
A 2.5 liter and a 4.0 liter. HOWEVER>>>> The location for the crank angle sensor is the same for both.
It is located on the bell housing up near the front at about the 10:00 PM position.
The Cam position sensor is located in the Distributor on both engines as well.

SOURCE: 98 chevy cavalier cranks but wont start changed

try to start the car, than the anti theift would shut the car off. you wait ten min with the key on, until you see the anti theift flash or disapear. than turn key to off position and try to start it. this will reprogram the computer.. Good luck.

you can also try disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes

2001 Chevy Silverado LS 5.3. Every time I try to crank it pops the Ignition A fuse?

Question edited for clarity.
Question moved to model category.

There is help in the link, but you have a dead short somewhere. One trick you can try is replace the fuse, and the fuse box cover. Put blankets over the headlamps. Turn the garage lights off and let your eyes acclimatize to the dark. Then whilst looking into the engine, get someone to crank the engine. Look for a flash in the wiring.

More ideas here, starters, relays and stuff

Where is crankshaft sensor on

  • Locate the crankshaft position sensor on
the driver side of the bell housing, about half way down. It is secured with two
7/16-inch bolts and has a cable that runs up and onto the
    engine.

  • 2

Remove the two 7/16-inch bolts from the bracketicon1.png holding the
CPS. A socket with extension or an open end wrench can be used, depending on
    what works best for you.

  • 3

Move up the cable about 6 to 8 inches and
you will find a clip that holds the cable against the bell housing of the Jeepicon1.png. Remove the
    cable from the clip.

  • 4

Trace the cable from the CPS to the the top
of the engine and locate the weather-proof connector where it plugs into the
main wiring harness. Unplug the connector, being careful not to break the tab on
    the connector.

  • 5

Remove the old CPS and cable from the Jeep.
Install the new CPS in the location that you removed the old one from, using the
two 7/16-inch bolts. Route the cable from the new CPS up to the clip on the bell
housing and install the cable under it.

  • 6

Route the remaining cable up through the
engine compartment and plug in the weather-proof connector. The connector should
only go in one way and it should click in when properly
    seated.

What makes a crankshaft positon senor go bad on a 2003 chevy suburban?

the crank possition sensor is a magnetic pick up sensor... it picks up the magnetic energy of other magnets on a cam lobe and tells the engines ignition system when to fire etc.
as with anything , CPS' wear out after a certain amount of cycles...
There is nothing you as a driver could do to extend the life of any electronic parts on your vehicle... they will wear as they were intended to ... and break ....

    AC BELT NEEDS CHANGED

You have to remove the main serpentine belt first. this is done with a 15mm wrench put on the tensioner. then from the bottom you can get to the a/c belt tensioner. install a 3/8 ratchet on it and remove tension from belt. I find the only way to get belt on and off is too slip it off the tensioner then off the backside of crank pulley then slide off of a/c compressor then install new belt onto the crank letting it fall off the backside run belt around compressor tensioner then work around crank pulley
