Do I need to remove headliner to access? Can't get access through dome light.
Pull down the headliner and take a look, you do know water is getting in there correct?

Have you checked the external antenna - if there is one? My 96 Passat antenna was so corroded that it fell apart in my hands recently.

the xm receiver is in the left rear quarter of van looks like between wheel well and rear of vehicle this is drivers side

Is it a power antenna ? or a regular antenna ? you may have to remove the wheel well liner to acess the antenna.Remove the clips that attach the liner.Hope this helps.

Call the XM service number, they will refresh your signals. If it was the head unit, the same problem would occur during AM/FM signal transmission

Pull off the 3 knobs for the heat controls. You will see a screw under the center knob. Remove it. Look to see if there are any screws near the vent grilles, remove them, if they are there. The whole center fascia then pulls out towards you. Remove the 4 bolts, and the radio is out. Easy.
