My drivers side interior door handle broke a few days ago when I tried to get out of my car. I can't find a replacement on the Internet.
I had my hadle break the other day. I went to the dealership and they wanted $170.00 to replace. The door handle was $60 by it self (for a piece of plastic)!! I read a solution on here that used epoxy putty (JB Weld for Plastic) find it at your hardware store and it worked. Pushing the latch out to touch the handle, I used the epoxy putty on the break and taped the handle to the door to apply pressure and now it's strong as steel. I spent $5.50 for the epoxy putty and saved over $160. Let another handle break, I'm ready!!!!

I have same issues with the cheap door handles....I have two the broke off.....I am no engineer; however, who the hell decided to put this piece of **** on the market!!!??? It is so badly put together.......Plastic handles, REALLY? Also, my power locks are screwed up....they don't even lock anymore!!!! One year left on the vehicle and I am furious......I will NEVER recommend thsi care to anyone!!!!!

I just had my handle break today. I thought it was funny that I just got the car in July of last year. So, I called Dodge customer service at 1.800.423.6343 and complained about it and also complained about how my break lights are both out and the bulbs aren't burnt out. They said I needed to go get a diagnosis at a Dodge dealer (at my expense) and then they would send it off to see if I could get reimbursed for it. Yeah right!!! I will just buy a new handle and put it on myself since the diagnosis by itself is $89. And to figure out what's wrong with my break lights, O'Reilly does a simple diagnosis for free and that's good enough for me. DODGE NITRO'S ****!!! I will never get one again!
Report broken interior Nitro handles to Dodge 1-800-763-8422 report to Tech team 8017924399 They claim they are not getting reports of this breaking easily... other wise they would put it on recall list as it makes driving the vehical a hazzord to your health, causeing easy entrapment. if the windows fail also...
I just called the dealership for my 2007 handle 374.00 parts and labor, plastic, cheap plastic part....I called 1-800-763-8422 and I was on hold with two different people for a very long time, they say they will call back in 24 hours to help resolve the problem, I have to call the tech number 801-792-4399 in the morning I guess, the guy I spoke to knows nothing about a possible recall or why I would call the tech dept. but he did not discourage me from calling. My 2007 has less than 34k miles, I am not a hulking woman, I take very good care of my car. I think the problem is cheap plastic parts. My luggage parts on top cracked the first year, my little plastic flaps that protect the hinges in the back seat cracked off the first year, the felt and plastic part that protects you from pulling out your wires under the dash tore completely out last year. I swear I am not rough on my car, I don't commute far and I keep regular maintainance. My dealer told me that he keeps these parts in stock because they break so often. Hopefully Dodge-Chrysler will do the right thing. I do my best to by a car made in the US, this is my Fourth Dodge, same dealer...

Go to napa they have a universal part that will work fine
Save yourself $120 in labor and replace the handle yourself. Took me 25 min. 20 of that was just to remove and reinstall the door panel. You would be surprised at how easy it is.

Nitro's are the worst cars EVER!!! all of my windows are broken, tail lights keep going out, one of the luggage racks on the top came loose and it flaps when i drive, both of my headlights went out while my husband was driving, and now my door handle just broke...Really?!?! it is sad a corporation can get away with making a vehicle this cheap and ripping the ***** of us trusting we are getting our monies worth when we purchase a vehicle.
My drivers side handle just broke on Sunday we have a 2007 ,never again will I by the first year of the vehicle they only offered a 36,000 mile warrenty when we purchased and the motor blew at 70,000 miles ,3300.00 for a used and installed. Never again
I called dodge today after the driver side handle broke off. the said the same BS, no complaints. right... The said that they are not going to assist in fixing the problem. No dodge for me anymore. They do not care about their customers. I put in a complaint with nhtsa.gov.
PLEASE file a complaint on these door handles at www.nhtsa.gov Dodge has got to fix this! I have two broke and do not want to continue replacing for them to just brake again. I have filed a complete and several others, but we need all we can get for something to be done about this

Only one solution to the inside door handle is to order a ne part! It looks like it is a dodge part! then trade it for a Ford. I make a living repairing these vehicle problems. If you patch it it might work for a while but probably end up getting a new part before u finish the job. You cain't make a silk purse out of a sow"s ear!
My drivers side door handle brokeover the weekend also. Also my break lights keep going out . Is anyone else having problems getting decent gas mileage? My fuel tank has been replaced once and intake pump twice still never get atrue reading on how much gas i have left. Right now i am getting 12 miles to the gallon. My arm rest when i open it, opens too far and i am told is not covered under my extended warranty. I will never buy another dodge again!!!!!!
My driver side door handle just broke, called the dealership it cost $71.00 for the Handle and $110.00 for them to install. The part is cheap plastic the manufacture couldn't make a better durable product than that it has a safety issue. If for some reason the power goes out on the vehicle that means the window don't work doors don't unlock then you are stuck in a hopeless vehicle. Now you have to brake the window $$$$$$$$ adding up. I called the Vehicle Safety Hotline and added a complaint about the handle braking and the BS I got from the Dodge Corp. which was no concern for my life or my family. 1-888-327-4236. Dodge dealership and Corp. stated there were no recalls for there cheap part.
Call Dodge at 1 800 763 8422 they have not had enough complaints to put them on recall but they are faulty cheap plastic parts and can cause endangerment if you are hit or a fire breaks out killing your power so the window can not be lowered to extract your self
I just tried to open my drivers door and snap it breaks off this is simply wonderful since it's a 2007 and its only 2010! With 29 payments left im pissed, I will be taking this POS right to the dealership and raising holy hell.
My nitro did the same thing. I have two doors with broken handles and many other issues.
My drivers side door handle just broke off today when I went to get out. I'm a female and I barley pulled it and it broke in half!!! POS plastic part, they should recall the handles.
My drivers side broke this morning as well. Dodge should really recall the 2007 and 2008 Nitros and fix the problem. They fixed the issue on the 2009 Nitros since they KNEW it was an issue.

I bought a 2007 Dodge Nitro in August only had about 56,000 miles on it and the driver side door handle broke in November. Then the dealer said we could fix it the cost $350 and the part cost less then $65 makes no sense to me

The plastic snapped at the bottom of the the handle where it attaches to the latch but the top is still attached.

Same sort **** happened to me.....I am not an engineer; however, who the **** would make a handle out of plastic? I don't F'g get it!!!!!
same thing happened to me. I have an 07 and I went to get out of the car and the handle snapped. I am 53 years old and I have never seen that happen before. Shabby design to say the least. And being as it is not covered under warrenty, it leaves me to beleive that they knew this was a problem from the start. I will never buy a Dodge again. Not for me or my extended family. It this is how much care they put into the exit handle, I can't help think about hpw many other short cuts they have made with their cars.
