1998 Pontiac Bonneville overheat

Ran out of gas. Car starts, but begins to overheat immediately. Could this be the computer needing reset?

What do you mean by overheat?Usually a vehicle has to run a little while before it overheats.Is the the radiator over flow boiling or over flowing?A computer cannot cause your car to overheat.

No the computers only job is too turn on the fans. check for enough antifreeze check for leaks. these cars are known for leaks. if the water pump is broke internally it will overheat with in minutes, or if the thermostat is stuck it will overheat too.

98 bonneville ran out of gas & engine shut down but accessories were still on. It got VERY hot inside (blower blowing hot air instead of A/C and under hood both. Now turns over with a little cranking...

u may hav a computer problem--locate it and unplug from harness then clean connections and put back--scan car 1st for any codes----------cud be also tuneup issue with electrics and fuel area--dont replace parts till u know solution and if computer get it reprogramed before replacin

Dont touch the gas pedal or it might flood and not start. Have someone spray a little starting fluid in the Air filter tube while you try to start it.

First thing to do is replace you fuel filter, If there is a check engine light have the code read, Most parts store will do this for free. Get the code number type that into google for further advise.

it might be the coils are getting hot and cutting out on you till they cool, try getting them checked .

try disconnecting the battery overnight. otherwise..you need a scan tool to read the codes and reset the computer
