The ECM does not recognize the different key. A tool referred to as a Tech-2 plugs in to the scan port, the truck is put in learn mode and the prompts on the tool are followed, this "programs" the ECM recognize the new key.
you must be getting fuel, remove fuel line @ engine, have someone crank the engine, then you'll know, NO SMOKING ! if no fuel, check fuel pump relay ! check all fuses . pump should hum for only 2 seconds, when key is turned to ON position. to prime the system. always check all ground wires to fuel system. important ! good luck
hi, because the key is not been recognised. you will have to switch the ignition ON leve it 3 seconds switch ignition OFF take key out from ignition for 3 seconds replace key in ignition swich ignition ON for key to be recognised with the unit under the steering colomn. if this don't work. you need the key programed. gerry
You can remove the housing to expose the switch and see if the lock pin has a problem but I would simply replace the switch. Get the complete switch NOT just the tumbler replacement. Also if you want to use your original key (which opens everything else) have the new lock keyed by a locksmith before you install it. Otherwise you will have to carry two keys from that point on.
