Can I remove the broken 6-CD player from my 2002 Altima stereo (to get my 6 CD's out), and then just leave the ribbon cable unplugged, and then use just the AM/FM stereo?

I know of no reason why you shouldn't do that and I have seen cars with a loose ribbon cable in the boot...

SOURCE: stereo error code

The code for the radio needs to be input. the radio must have been disconnected from the battery.
look for the code on a card in the glove box. if no card, then u have to pull the stereo out and get the serial # to the dealership.

Try radio shack, or stereo sales/installation place for ready to go plug adapter. For a few bucks, it saves headaches, and butchering the wiring in case you want to re-install old one later when trading in or selling the car.

SOURCE: Loss of reception in 2002 ford focus factory radio fm

Common fault but as others have suggested, check aerial plug. It does fall out, speed humps vibration, cause it to come out of it's socket. If not this, try a seperate aerial such as a piece of wire or a small screw driver blade in the hole. Press search and see if radio finds a station and locks on.If it does then you know you have an aerial problem and your radio unit is ok. Sadly, if no luck and no result then the only answer is to relpace the unit as it is not servicable. These can be found at some car breakers but take your car and make sure that you buy a tried and tested unit with its pin No. Typical costs are £30 with casette and £70 for cd player.

However because there are so many different types of socket and plug arrangments on these units and they all look alike , don't be tempted to part with any cash until you have got the correct one that fits your car and it works. If does and you have its pin, it will have to be entered to make it work and you have made a written note of it in your Ford hand book , then pay the man. Good luck From been there and have the tee shirt. J.R. Note. Halfords do a fitted alternative replacement for around £150 if no luck and you are prepared to spend that kund of money.

You most likely need a new radio. They go bad all the time in the Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep. Don't know how many of them I have replaced.

How do i remove the 6 stacker cd player out of my au fairmont. cd's are jammed and i want to get them out. radio goes on and then goes off cos it try's to play the cd. cd's can not eject.

Have you removed the "trim panel" that surrounds the stereo? If not, do so 1st, then there "should" be 4 screws that hold the stereo in place, remove those 4 screws then pull the stereo forward (towards you), next disconnect the "bulk wire harness" connected @ the rear of the stereo along w/ the "antenna" cable and you should be home free from there. let me know if this helps.

Remove radio

Replace the CD player. To pull the plastic baffle off the dashboard: Adjust the heating vents so they point downwards. Grab the plastic bar between the heating vents and the stereo. Pull. Remove the screws from the front of the mounting brackets. Pull out the crappy stereo. Unplug the antenna and the wiring harnesses. Transfer the mounting brackets to your new stereo. Cut off the big wiring harness (unless you're lucky enough to have a replacement stereo that accepts the same kind). Connect the wires to the wires on your new stereo's harness. Bose 6 cd changer factory installed will not function.

Some people with this issue have had some sucess disconnecting the negative battery cable for 10 minutes to reset the stereo. After re-connecting the battery, the stereo should reset and the error message should clear at which point the CD player should also function. Apart from this, a service call at a dealer or a car stereo repair specialist are the only alternatives. Best of luck.

DOOR WON'T OPEN FROM INSIDE OF NISSAN ALTIMA 2002 ON DRIVER'S SIDE

There is a cable that attaches to the inside door latch release handle. The plastic that retains this cable is most likely broken. I have seen this before. If the retainer is not holding the cable sheath correctly, the entire cable moves when the handle is pulled and does not release the door latch.

Remove the door panel and inspect this cable. You will see 2 cables (one is for the door lock). If the plastic is broken, you will need a new interior handle assembly.

Hope this is helpful!!
