SOURCE: clicking noise when trying to start car, battery is ok, wont start

That Clicking is the Battery causing it not to Start. You need to Replace that Battery or at Least put a Charger on it for a Couple of hours to see if you can Salvage it for a While.

SOURCE: car wont start. is not the battery.

The clicking you hear is the starter solenoid trying to fire the starter. Generally an indication of loss of full power to the starter itself.
It can in fact be a bad wire to the starter, weak battery, dirty battery connections, etc. When in doubt try the horn. If it goes full blast look beyond the battery. Start at your battery terminals and clean them, checking the wires there as well for creeping corrosion. Then work your way to the starter connections checking for corrosion and dirt.
If all else checks out the issue is likely in the starter solenoid, internal connections. These wear with age and are replaceable on most Japanese vehicles.

SOURCE: rover 25 wont start with key, makes fast clicking

could be alternator not charging, put another good battery on and see what happens ,if it starts then check charge with a induction amp meter ,as these vehicles use intelegent charging system so disconnecting the battery with engine running to see if keeps running so you know alternator is ok doesnt work .if warning light goes out then renew the battery but if engine management light on then it could be a alternator fault or the ECU playing up ,and to check this out you wwill need a scope to read the fluctuations on teh sensor wire to the ECU and read the resistance to check for a fault as these vehicles use encrypted software to make it a dealer only job but it can be checked without it .

Car won't start, Ford Expedition, clicking noise

if the car will jump off doesn't matter what AAA said battery is bad, either terminals are excessively corroded, or battery has a dead cell internally, remove battery and take to a reputable auto parts store or repair shop and have tested, also have load tested it is bad.

My 2006 chevy trailblazer 2wd 6cyl wont start. makes clicking noise, then nothing lights/radio etc work but wont start what is it

You got a jump and it ran fine? It's your battery. The lights and radio are much easier for a battery to handle than spinning a car engine. Again, if all you needed was a jump, you have a bad battery.

1997 jimmy won't start just clicking noise

It could be:1. the battery is flat, in which case recharge the battery OR jump start the vehicle OR, PROVIDED YOUR CAR DOES NOT HAVE AUTOMATIC GEARS, get somebody to push the car while the driver is in the driving seat and the car is in second gear and the ignition is turned on ---- ; OR2. there is a loose connection from the battery to the starter motor OR a loose connection between the battery and the earth (where the lead from the battery is connected to the body of the car) OR there is dirt at one of these connections which is inhibiting the current. Solution in these cases is to check the connections, clean them and reconnect.Best of luck!

Is it just clicking, like the battery is dead? Will it turn over fast, with the spark plugs removed?
I would try using jumper cables, and try giving the starter a better ground -. Clamp to starter housing and negative side of battery. (NOT + TERMINAL) .
If these make no difference, I would buy a NEW starter.

2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee makes a loud ticking noise, won't start.

Your problem is likely a bad battery and/or corrosion on the battery terminals. Remove the cables from the battery terminals and clean them with a wire brush or other tool. NOTE: always remove the negative cable first and reconnect it last. Reconnect the cables and then try to start/jump the vehicle again. If that doesn't clear the problem, take the battery to your local auto parts store or supplier and have them check it. You will probably need a new one.

Battery drain

Check to determine actual volts in battery charge if necessary. Remove & clean battery posts and inside of terminals. Check engine ends of battery wires as well making sure they are clean and tight.
