If the pump can be heard either there is not enough power to operate & its got nothing with the battery condition once the engine has been started. Look for any oil seals not being able to hold the fluid inside due to the pressure. Definitely have to ensure that that the pump has sufficient power to operate, or some object is acting as a block which will to replaced appropriately. Also its not engaging the lock as it should which could be the root cause, since this process will be effective only after once the lock is engaged..............sodeep

With the soft top down. Take the allen hex head wrench out of the trunk by the spare tire. The wrench is about a 3/16 allen about 8 inches long
insert the wrench along the seam facing down along side the rear head rest, left side you'll see a orientation groove near the seam left side.
Align wrench with seam insert wrench down with some pressure
press wrench down firmly and hold
press head rest down and hold
pull wrench out and take weight off headrest
Repeat for other side

Hi,

It's already solved by an expert named denmar 2222 :-

There is a reset port about 12 in below each headrest. The port is hard to find, but you can actually glimpse it with good light and/or a flashlight and some head/neck contortion. When facing forward the port is on the left side of each headrest. The port is oval in shape, about 4mm x 8mm, positioned about 10 mm forward of the support post and about 5mm to its left. Essentially, its an oval hole in black sheet metal. Mercedes mentions an allen key tool included with the car, but you can use a very long screwdriver or, preferably, a metal shishkabob barbecue skewer (by far the best) to reset the mechanism. Slide the tool (skewer, screw driver or allen key) straight down along the side of the headreast and then very carefully angle the tip forward and to the left (of car) to go into the port. Again, you can see this if you try. Push down on the spring under the port and hold down while you push down (Hard) on the headrest to its full reset position. Then remove the tool. Voila!

Before the reset, the top would not go down. After the reset, no problems.

Hope i helped you.

Clk 230 roof

Looks like a failed relay:
"I sat in the car and started pushing the roll bar button. We heard a click every time I pushed it. My brother was at the back of the car and was trying to hear where the clicking was coming from. He realized it was coming from a relay switch so he took a screwdriver and tapped the top of the relay and **BAM** everything starts working! So through that we realized it was a bad relay".

Does not lower the roll bar

I had the same problem recently.

To the passenger side of each rear head rest is a small line/mark (about 1cm long). Take your allen key from the document wallet (or a piece of coat hanger about 30cm long with a 2cm length at right angles, ie an L shape).

Insert this straight down along the mark. Move it around until you get it into a small hole where you will feel a springy resistance.

While depressing the spring fully, get a friend to depress the headrest fully. Doing this on your own may be possible if the roof is down, but unlikely if it triggered with the roof up.

Release the spring and the headrest should be back in position.

Roll over bars released. reset down what rearms them?

hi its just spring activated, just follow instructions below to reset the roll bar1. Raise rear headrest to its highest possition
2. With a screwdriver, remove the plastic cover that is located under the headrest between the roll-bar.
3. Reach down into the opening to locate the metal tab that has locked the spring loaded roll-bar into place.
4. Simultaniously push the tab in (towards the front of the car ) while pushing downward on the top of the exposed roll-bar to compress the springs. Push all the way down until the bar locks into place.
hope this helps please comment and rate thanks

Back head rest will not go back down

There should be a release button located on either side of the headrest on the seat itself and if you press it the headrest should go back in to the desired position

My roll bars (back seat head rests) are stuck in the UP position and I can't close the top while they are up. How do I get them down mechanically, the guide shows plenty of info for the top but nothing...

just push the roll bar button in the up position like you raising the roll bar. hold it for about ten seconds or til you hear a click sound. basically your just going to reengage the mechanism again since the roll bar got deployed while driving. If thats not the case then you might have a separate problem but I would start there.

Top will not close clk 430 mercedes benz

did you recently have a dead battery? Either way try to resynchronize your windows (i'm not sure if you meant front window or rear quarter window). If you hold the window switch in the up position(car running and door closed) untill window reaches the top and continue to hold for 10 seconds the window will reprogram itself. try both front windows. This system is complicated and is best diagnosed via s.d.s. diagnostic machine. I will give you a couple of other possible easy remedies. If your vehicle is equiped with a ski window in the rear trunk panal the door must be shut, also your cargo cover must be shut and plastic lid secured. There are numerous micro switches that input to your soft top control unit-any one could cause the top to be inop. Check to make sure the switch on the cargo cover( retractable cover in trunk) is secured to it's housing, they do periodically fall off. Also if your roll bar ( rear head rests ) has been mechanically deployed You must hold the switch in the up position untill the rams lock back into the roll bar-does the roll bar operate? Always operate top with vehicle running because they are very voltage dependent. Your owners manual will explain how to manually raise top and some simple operation and repair remedies. If you are knowledgable about automotive electrical systems you can disconnect both leads from the battery and touch them together to drain the capacitors and it may reset the module( do not attempt if you are not knowledgable with automotive electricity because there are many things that can go wrong. hopefully I have been helpful.

Clk top will not go back up seems dead..all fuses checked

It is normal for the roll bar to rise when top is down. It seems like the rear valance cover is not secured and the soft op does not understand what position it is in. There is a way to manually close top. it is stated in your owners manual. also I would try to close top with button(assuming your vehicle will start and the battery has good voltage) start car and try to operate top down and try pushing on rear cover also make sure the retractable cover in trunk is extended to compress operation switch
