P1336 Uncertain ignition fail malfunction Check coolant level first then run engine to make sure thermostat opens ,if it opens ok then you have two choices ,remove water pump and check the blades ,there plastic and often come loose on shaft ,or try a new sensor but i have rarely had to change one unless i broke it doing something else ,yes even i do things ? .most common fault i gat with these engines is the water pump or the thermostat ,the plastic nipple thing on the end of the thermostat breaks and the thermostat doesnt open .

SOURCE: Hi, 2003 Beetle / reset - clear faults

Im actually going through the process of fixing this problem with my car. the P2181 is a performance cooling error, usually brought up by thermostat, radiator issues, or ECT sensor. You should narrow it down and check both radiator and thermostat to prevent later issues. If all is well go to your local autozone, pep boys, checkers..etc. and have them erase the DTC error. If you are looking for a more long term solution you can purchase many different software such as VAG-COM or any other software used to run test on vehicals. Be sure you know what you are doing though because messing with your cars computer can have long term effects that can be pricey.

SOURCE: ck engine light on code po335 p1336 also location of sensor?

P0335 and P0336 Engine crank sensor malfunction
To test this code, have a visual inspection of the location and wirings of the crank sensor. If the engine has a cam sensor, you might mistook it as the crank sensor (it is a good idea to contact ATS that can research this for you). Check the sensor wires for insulation making sure it is getting a voltage signal as shown in the wiring diagram. Sometimes, the wires itself is soaked with dirty oil causing the sensor to fail. If OK, check the engine timing belt system for any slack which can also cause the sensor to throw in the code. If all of these prove OK, remove the crank sensor and check it for resistance as compared to the standard specs. Lots of times, if the sensor probe end is contaminated with oil or cracked, this can only be revealed after the crank sensor is removed

2003 windstar blows luke warm air not hot

Temp gauge should read about 1/2 way if the vehicle engine is at proper operating temp. If it is lower it is why you have luke warm heat. If the temp is ok get the climate control system scanned for faults.
