If you have a bad or sticking relay it will feel warm even when everything is off (at least when it is in failure mode. To remove, some require rocking side to side, and if the contacts have burned or melted this can be a bear. Once you are sure it is bad, you can use any tool you want to grasp it and gently rock back and forth, side to side. If metal, try vise grips but try not to crush it. If plastic, I think there is a special tool with square box like jaws to grip the corners. If you can remove the parts on either side, make sure there is not a latch of some sort.
Open the hatch and slip a screwdriver's shaft into the opening of the latch (simulating that the latch has engaged the metal bar on the floor of the SUV). Apply pressure in the latch via the shaft of the screwdriver. While pulling against the latch, operate the unlock button of the fob or unlock with the key (whichever your truck has). When it is unlocked the latch will allow the screwdriver to open the jaws of the latch and pull through them. The latch jaws should now be open and you should be able to close the hatch and have it latch and lock.
We don't have Polo in the States but it would be the same design as a Golf or even a Jetta, even a Passat.
Remove nuts from glass clamping jaws, press jaws apart, an access port would reveal both nuts at the same level

Pull door glass upward, tilt toward front and lift out of window slot
