My nissan z24 starts find, but when running it seems to be misfiring just fitted in new spark plugs & fuel filter but still misfiring when running

when did this PU run good last decade or found it in a barn for $200 dead (history matters)
1995, what engine OUR means POUR, yes, took awhile on that.
what we call instant start fuel (spray) runs short time..
so you lost fueling !
so check all fuses. for good for sure to FI and ECU.
check fuel pressure next . (rail pressure) to spec cranking the engine using hand held fuel pressure gauge, a tool.
3 second spray is par for 3 seconds run time , this test.
can repeat the test many time but 3 times is good to know the engine sounds good. no odd noises.
keep face away from TB so if it backfires, no burned up beard.

SOHC 12valve head, hoohoo a nice chain drive cam.! no stinking belts. to snap and bend valves.

if compression over 150psi
check fuel pressure. if starting fluid test fuel sounds GOOD,.'
check fuel pressure, if too low it will fail to inject.
if low check FPR for bad, that is not old and stuck open as they do. FPR mounts to fuel rail and love to fail this old.
some wear out and jam full open returning all fuel back to the tank an no spec pressure is attained


if fuel pump checks dead, make sure fuel pump fuse and fuel pump relay works right
and sends 12vdc to the pump cranking,
that is it. base on engine seems good. (so far)

a new cap and rotor and wire sit be wise for distributor this old and spark plugs. a real spark tuneup.

During a visual inspection of the plug, if the ground electrode or center electrode are worn and there is a wide gap between the two...
Or if there is carbon build-up...
Or if the spark plug is fouled up with oil...etc.

It could be many different things. Check the vacuum lines. Check spark plugs. Check compression in engine, check fuel lines filter and injectors or carb. It's sounds like a misfire which can be caused by incorrect fuel, spark, or compression. And sometimes they run rough because vacuum pressure is incorrect or line is leaking. Start with the basics and go from there

Follow your fuel lines from the the engine back to the tank.They usually run right along the frame.Check for your filter along the lines you will see a filter in there somewhere.

replace fuel filter, clean fuel injectors.could have bad fuel, do a code scan before buying new parts.faulty egr valve or faulty engine coolant temperature sensor cause engine run poorly.replace spark plugs and wires because if spark plug wires is bad or spark plug and ignition coil is bad that will cause rough idling misfiring and stalling you have dead cylinder not firing properly..

just questioning whether you put the spark plug leads back on the correct order or not, as this sounds like a bad misfire....was it like this before you performed all that work on it, or has it only just started

Air intake gasket. Spray carburator cleaner around the gasket running and see if the rpm goes up.

It is your coil. One coil cuts out under load and the other one runs full time. It'll run on either coil alone just fine. Your problem is that the one that is supposed to run full time has gone bad, the other coil which is supposed to cut out under heavy load is the only coil running your car. When it cuts out, the truck wants to quit until you let off and the computer (ECU) allows it to come back on. Should be able to find a new coil for $40 bucks. Good luck.

Have you checked for spark or tried shooting carb cleaner in the intake to see if it will fire?
